yes, this is serious thats why people cant understand why player need to do part time this and that if player need to do part time after training, they have no time to rest their body, hence affect the quality of training at the next day the policy is discouraging the parent and player to fully concentrate in badminton sport that why player start to do part time job, study beside training this is a bad cycle yes,bam had raised the salary, but still not every player get enough money if parent is not confident with the children future then they withdraw their child from bjss how know if their child is the next lcw/ld or lyd see how pity is the situation? some state allowance for sukma can match bjss player allowance for 1 year(if they won sukma gold) see?
i was told many versions some could hardly live with the allowance given while some are living with luxury which i suppose would be from some winnings, parents or part-time job
off topic: thank you for providing their ages. Looking at their ages & achievements, I think TCS, CWF, LDR have essentially reached their peak or soon to be. Arif might have a bit more time as he's only 21. LCW won a SS at 22? SS tourney didn't start until 2007. Or you meant the equivalent tournament at that time to the current SS. I concur the players under 20 y.o. should already be sent to GP, GP Gold tourneys along with International tourneys. I would think by 21 y.o. or 22 y.o., all of them should at least be sent to SS level tourneys. They can't stay in GP or GP Gold or IC level all the time; otherwise, it shows they really can't go any further..
I'm begining to really like your idea. Time for some of these middle of the barrel players to leave already as not up to mark.
Compared to our BJSS and BAM players who are like 'receiving' scholarships to pursue their dreams... pBm can you share what a normal state player and parent sacrifice for this sport? Every month paying how much just for coaching and training, shuttles ? Also all the expenses these players parents pay to go for tournaments? Please enlighten our Forumers on who actually is having a hard time and who is very lucky already. Thanks
in dollar and cents bam & bjss players are lucky transport to and fro from training is already too much for some parents in quality and exposure, again bam & bjss are lucky they get to send to more tournaments depending on their abilities and performances and training are in full mode in discipline and freedom all are more or less the same in sneaking out and in their homes/hostel to accomplish their mission is as easy as going tuition
pBm, May I ask how come DLCW looks so much more fitter and physicaly stronger (got muscle solid solid) than most of the other BAM players ? Is it DLCW got better DNA?
from my understanding from earlier post, most are earning RM 500 per month.. no money to buy good food...meaning lack of nutritious....meaning lack of muscle...then tak boleh lor... tak boleh mean cannot win tournament.....so no price money...back to the same cycle again DLCW won many price $$, so he can eat well....
Yes, but the question is which came 1st? The Chicken or the Egg? Ppl priority should be #1 Necessity 1st, #2 Dreams later. If they are already receiving some sort of 'scholarship', they (& their parents) should meet the association half way and invest in themselves. these players if not talented enough and not financially strong enough should not be busy chasing stars.
there are several reasons for that body type/composition, training focus, nutrition and life style lcw wasn't that muscular before, remember?
if there are still complaint of current setup in bam and bjss maybe one should do some reading of the past champions like hou chia chang, lim swie king, misbun sidek, rudy hartono to name a few try find out their living condition, their training facility ...... and you all tell me can we do it for rm500 - 800 a month provided parents subsidize rm300
Yes, I remember last time he was much skinnier. Now still slim but tougher and more power in footwork too I wonder what the rest are Not Doing the same? and Why?
based on current condition, don't think so.. inflation, last time RM 1 can do wonders...now RM 100 also not enough talk about RM 1k per month? furthermore the distractions nowadays are greater...don't you think so????
if there is a will there is a way the job is only training to play competition and its not going to be forever the same if one works hard works smart payday will come. in indonesia it could be worse influence, distraction, yes there are tons of them and also the wrong-wishers those that gives the wrong infor, though some comes from, very sad to say, the parents work with your coaches, trainers and the expert available respect them and learn from them
if what i heard is right, beside training or play.. some still study or engage in part-time job..... is bread and butter issue now...cannot play well coz cannot even feed the mouth... not to mention about support family...
True facts coming from a person who is in the business that the rest of us are only armchair critic. If anyone is a close friend to these players, I suggest instead of 'agreeing' with the complaints and talking about 'how to boleh', Please try to give motivation or lecture. Cruel to be kind, but only a champion can survive harsh environment to improve.
if that is the case it is very simple consult your coach and approach the management have them listen to your problem and i am sure they would understand and sort for an answer its their job to see all players living condition are there as for part-time job if that permission is given i don't see why not and i also don't see why not the management would not allow that to help them make ends meet i think ng chin chai is a good person to approach and personally i think he will look into this kind of matter, i can even bet
