The Princess and the rest of the Thai players trained at the tournament venue (Yio Chu Kang Sports Hall) last night. A friend of mine dropped by to watch but the bodyguards did not allow him to enter.
Are these Malaysian players from clubs or the National squad? http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/players.aspx?id=21653&c=MAS
u going down to watch tonite? I'm available tonite... knock off at 630pm... wanna go together? YCK isnt too far...
Chong Li Qun, Zulkiffli Zulfadli, Goh Ying Jing, Ooi Swee Khoon, Sutheaswari, MUDUKASAN are from KLRC. Only Beryno Wong from BAM's back up swuad to national team. Watch out for Zulkiffli. His only 14 and already won Kedah U21 trophy. Watch his match against Singapore Sports School Lenny Tan. SSP player got thrash. He is also older than Zul by 2 or 3 years. I think Singapore will never catch up with Malaysia and you know what, Zul is not the best U14 Malaysian lolz. Sighzzz....Maybe Badminton funding in Singapore should go to other sports.....
The No. 1 seed for Men Singles, John Moody of New Zealand has withdrawn. Tanongsak is now the top seed.
Is this young Thai boy who beat Taufik in TC? I've never watched him playing but Taufik gave full credit to this young boy... he must be damn good...
Yes, he's the one He got the better of Taufik Hidayat in straight sets: 23-21 21-18 Does anyone remember his loss to Lee Chong Wei in the early rounds at this year's Asian Badminton Championships? Tanongsak managed to take only 13 points off LCW in each game. In any case, this lad is worth watching... he is headed for greater glory. Must say, though, that his name is quite a mouthful: Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk!
So we do have juniors from Malaysia participating after all! I will certainly make an attempt to watch some matches.
INA casualties: Yoga Pratama (MS), Tieke Arieda Ningrum (WS) MAS casualties: Zulfadli Zulkifli (MS), Ooi Swee Khoon (MS), and Sutheaswari Mudukasan (WS). The latter lost by WO. THA casualties: Parinyawat Thongnuam (MS) and Bodin Issara (MS) SIN casualties: Massive!
Believe most of the casualties are from the Singapore Sports School and a few are from the national team. Fu Mingtian lost to a Korean gal in a marathon match which lasted more than one hour. The top seed NZ mens doubles were upset by a scratch pair from Singapore.
Congratulations to Singapore's Derek Wong who upset the No.8 seed Beryno Wong of Malaysia in the Mens Singles last 16. He will meet top seed Tanongsak of Thailand in the quarterfinals tomorrow morning.
Looks like the Thais and the Koreans are a force to reckon with in this competition. The match times are rather unfriendly as most days they start early in the morning and end early in the evening, akin to office hours. I think I could only attend the finals on Saturday.
Danny Bawa/Vanessa Neo beat Viki Pelatnas pair Viki Indra/Richi SIN BA faster than PBSI in hiring new player, Viki/Richi has been paired for long time.
