Hi All, seems like everyone is commening on Yonex string, may I know beside Yonex string, is there any other brand string are good too?
BG-65Ti lasts ages but not everyone likes its feel. Nanogy 98 is immensely powerful and quite durable, Nanogy 95 is more durable but not as powerful.
power and durability ive tried the more durable ones but my smashes seem a bit slow and ive tried powerful ones but they would break i less than 2 weeks so i'll take ur word for it i'l try using nanogy 98 thanks man
Nanogy 95 is another good option and will last longer but if you want absolute power, 98 is the way to go.
Replacement for BG 66 Hi, need some advice on replacements for BG 66; really loved playing with BG 66 but the durability is a big issue; just broke my string today after only 2 sessions one hour each :crying: !!! and I am not even a hard hitter! have tried BG 85 but somehow the feeling is not the same.... dont really need that much power cos only playing at a recreational level.... any advice guys?
Sorry need to also add, I had my racket strung at a tension of 22; got it done by Mr Soh at Classic ( I guess he is a fairly good stringer) and my racket is this round head carbon-boron racket that I bought years ago...not sure if the type of racket my affect the string durability?
Did you have the grommets checked? Could be a stringer issue or been a mis-hit. BG-85 is a different string, so it will feel differnet. Definately good if you're a touch/control player if you're not a hard hitter. I personally use this string myself.
Havent checked the grommets...actually dont really know what to look for..heehee...I trust the stringer is good; I had previously strung the same racket with a thicker string years and years ago and it had lasted until recently when I broke it. I was told that the string was a cheapo one cos it looked thicker than most of the yonex stings currently available...but heck, it lasted and I dont feel any major difference in terms of power or feel... BG85 certainly feels different...thought there is less power and feels certainly "flat" compared to BG 66....
I have several rackets strung by Soh. I kinda prefer his stringing and have no problem so far. BG85 and BG80 will take a bit more tension to come alive.
That's odd. Don't Yonex recommend you use 2Lbs (or is it 10%) less tension with the BG8* than BG-66? Isn't is due to the coating they have?
The flat feeling you describe is nautal because of using a thicker string. Once you will get used to it, you will do fine. With BG-85, you would come to like the control the string provides.
Thanks for the input guys... I just have to try and get used to BG 85; hope it lasts longer; I actually strung my racket with BG 85 but at the same tension of 22 as my BG 66...
Different issues... Yes, there is a recommendation on the pack that BG80/85 should be strung at 2lbs lower than normal. For me, both BG80/85 come alive at >=24lbs. Below that tension, both felt a bit dead.
my string tension is 26 lbs, if I use: BG 66 = it last only one week BG 85 = last only one week BG 80 = last one month NBG 98 = last two weeks NBG 95 = last one month i played 3x a week, 3 hours in every session... i played mixed, mens doubles, more on power play...
Well...first I used NBG-95 and i really liked this strings because it gaves me a strongly smash but a few time ago i tried BG-65 and i'm really happy with that strings...I started playing much better than i played with NBG-95 because i got much more control, mostly when i'm playing near to the net. (sorry about the english mustakes, but i'm not very good in english xD)
