Chai Biao/Hong Wei ousted the KOR pair to set up an all-CHN MD Final.

He used to play as a junior - he played our national county U17 tournament final for Notts vs Marcus Ellis of Yorkshire back when he was 15. I'd have played against him in the group stages had they not put out their 'doubles specialist' against me and still thrashed me :D

    - Gabby White also played in that final for Yorkshire. :p

No surprise as being from Suffolk you were probably using a wooden racket :p.

Fear not though as I hear rock rackets are quite popular in Norfolk, given as a wedding gift from brother to sister...right before they are married to each other. :p

That said, being from Essex I'm not sure I should be engaging in jokes based on regional stereotypes, I fear that might give you too much ammo. :D

SLH-Rayleigh in the Southend League, If you play in the essex league then you probably use the same league website as our league?

What club do you play for?

Ahh I recognise the club name, If you are playing in that league then I reckon you could probably beat me using a wooden racket :p.

Leighway are an exceptional team, although a new club called PowerPlay were formed for this new season and their mens team look to be even stronger.

Julia was excellent, Anders needs to work on his focus.

Did I get it wrong? The woman said that tommy was the finalist last year. I think she mistook tommy as Simon Santoso.

The drama today has to be the smash by Chai Biao. His racket broke into two pieces while he was smashing:eek: right in the middle of the shaft.

That sounds awesome. Is there a video of that?

Also, anybody know how fast his smashes were?

Chai Biao seems to be improving, beating kim/kim is a good result, considering he used to always lose to that pair (playing with zhang nan).

China serious in beefing up their MD department?

Are we seeing a resurrection in China's MD?

Seems to me that the two CHN finalists are impressive in this tournament with their defeats of KOR's best doubles pairs.

Indeed, what a surprising result, they beat two faves here and create all CHN final, a rare feat as we often see MD is CHN's weakest link.

Tommy made one step better last night to stun Boonsak and book final spot. Today he will challenge Chen Long. H2H 3-0 for the Chinese and last meeting is HKG SS last year. Will Tommy steal one game from CL this time?

Wang Yihan v Schenk, last year Schenk failed in final against Li XR. This exciting clash should be match of the final day.

Her new favourite word: "Nevertheless." :D

Parting statement: "I think I should just relax now, take rest, and put all the energies in to tomorrow's final. That's perfect - in front of the home crowd."

I think individually, several of the MD players are improving, most notably: Liu Xiaolong, Hong Wei, and Chai Biao.

They are testing around different pairs to try to find a really standout pair. I think Hong Wei/Liu Xiaolong would be a very good pair. Liu Xiaolong has fantastic speed and anticipation, reminds me a bit of Cai Yun.

Zhang Nan is a fantastic mixed doubles player, so if he gets some more experience in MD, he could be an excellent player as well.
