    Congratulations to Sindhu! :D:D:D

Her journey to the podium at the Swiss International 2011 was marked by the many seeds she chewed up again.

She started off easy enough, against lower ranked (182) qualifier Camila Sorensor of Denmark.
Next in line of fire was 54 ranked, 4th seed Judith Meulendijks of Netherlands, who ran into Sindhu for the second time in 2 consecutive events.
Next came 5th seed and 56-ranked German, Karin Schnasse.

In the semi-finals, came 2nd seed, 42-ranked Jeanine Cicognini of Switzerland.
The finals got her to face the only other lower ranked (88) player, Carola Bott of Germany, who also overcame many better players to make it to the finals.

Throughout the tournament, Sindhu was untroubled. She did not drop a single game, and the most that any opponent took from her in a game, was 16 points.

Sindhu is listed to play the qualifying round at the HongKong Open SS in November. This will mark another step in her evolution as a player of the next generation.

I just noted another weird statistic: in the ongoing final stage matches (5-8) at the WJC Team events, Sindhu beat Soraya Eijbergen of the Netherlands 21-9, 21-11, in the recorded time of just 5 minutes!!:D

Noz wasn't even playing this match for JPN. She was scheduled to play in WD against Sindhu. JPN eventually won 3-0

It is typical for a girl so young to get defeated against opponents she is not familiar with.

Nonetheless, Sindhu has promise. I hope she would be trained to be more of a power player like Tine Rasmussen. With her height, that would be a great advantage.

Probably fatigue. Too many games in a short span. She was playing singles as well as doubles... she had jsut finished with the Swiss International prior to this tournament, so add to that travel fatigue...

Great analysis though I myself am a fan of her and hope she rises and matures. Feel very bad about saina losing to xerui li. Great game though

That's putting it mildly!! Inthanon is already a very established player with much more international and top-level experience than Sindhu has. :D But the thing we have noticed about Sindhu is that she does not really care about reputations or seedings (not yet, at any rate! :)) and if (when?) she meets Inthanon, she will just go out there and play her own positive game. Who knows? Maybe she will score another upset! :p

Sindu's path to the final is littered with potential land mines. Right off the bat (R2), she meets up with Kim Je Ki. Koreans are never easy propositions. She is most likely to cross paths again with Yuki Fukushima in R3, the same girl who beat her handily in the Team matches. If she clears the Japanese, either Lim (MAS), Ongbumrangpan (THA) or Poulsen (DEN) should be waiting in R4.

And we haven't even reached the QFs yet. So an encounter with Rat is still far, far away.

True enough! :D But then again, she has been beating players ranked above her so consistently, it's not impossible for her to make it for her appointment with Inthanon. I guess the only negative factor may be her physical condition, but then, it will be a test to overcome, that will stand her in good stead.

Besides, what else has she got on her calendar, to do? :D:D:D
