Bit strange that as the only decent players produced out of Scotland in the past few years have been women. Wonder what has changed?

I can't really give an explaination but at the moment, it is definitely true that the men are of a better standard than the women, when comparing to the other Europeans.

You're shooting yourself in the foot! :p Yigit is younger than her opponent...

    So it's
    Denmark - Netherlands
    Germany - France
in the semis. I think Denmark is unstoppable this year especially with Line Kjaersfeld. Would be a surprise to see someone else on top. I hate to admit it but in the other semi-final France seems to be the favourite.

    Nevertheless
    GO GERMANY

The stream provided by badmintoneurope.tv stopped because they only covered the semi-final between Denmark and Netherlands. It seems they had some problems with the matches though. Only the MX was uploaded.

Never in doubt from the start really this time around ... thought Netherlands might give them at least a fight but I don't understand the lineup used at all. It's like they gave up beforehand already .

Does anyone know why Norway completely withdrew from the EJC?

There is/was a strike at Lufthansa which affected their flights. All flights to Germany were cancelled and they don't have/couldn't get a direct flight to Turkey to be able to arrive in time ...
Individual event not affected I assume.

Yes I see it now, was only looking at the players list. Then they didn't manage to arrange anything on such short notice (it was already mentioned it would probably be difficult for practical and economic reasons)

Denmark come full circle to take gold
    Date: 3/26/2013

    http://www.badmintoneurope.com/cms/default.aspx?clubid=4685&cmsid=239&pageid=5381&m=624368

    Excerpts:

Vantaa, Finland in 2011 was a sad place to be if you were a Danish player or a fan of Danish badminton. Little did Denmark realise at the time but that 2013 European Junior Team Championships was to be the catalyst for Germany to end the Danish dominance in team events for the following two years.

...This was a different Danish team that arrived in Turkey this week. This was a team that was determined to win and a team that would not settle for anything less than gold. Head coach Jim Laugesen, himself a European Junior champion from 1993, instilled a new sense of belief and determination in his young team. Laugesen led from the front and his young charges delivered with a decisive 3-0 win.

Mixed doubles duo of Mathias Christiansen and Line Kjaersfeldt led the way for the Danes and blew French duo of Kersaudy and Tran off the court in under half an hour. Kjaersfeldt was once again the outstanding player on court and Mathis Christiansen summed up her contribution eloquently. “Line was outstanding today. She is world class and it is a pleasure to be selected to play alongside her”

...French starlet Delphine Lanscac took the opening game in easy fashion before Anna Thea Madsen came back in the second to level the score. The third set was a nail biter and we even had a small object thrown onto the court mid rally which did little to break the concentration of either player. In the end a combined total of 6 matches played this week for Lansac against just three for Madsen was probably the deciding factor and the Danish team stormed the court when Madsen won the crucial point in the third 21-18.

“This is an amazing feeling. To get the winning point for my team is something that I will remember forever. We deserved this win and I think we were the best team and this puts to bed the disappointment from Finland two years ago” said an overjoyed Madsen to Badminton Europe after the final.

A bit embarrassing that Sweden got 5-0ed by England, losing WS and WD was no surprise, but Jacob Nilsson losing to Alex Lane? What :( .

    Finals Day

WD final will be played between Gabriela/Stefani Stoeva from Bulgaria and Julie Finne-Ipsen with her partner Rikke Hansen again. In German Juniors three weeks ago the Stoeva sisters won convincingly, so it will be interesting to see if the danish girls can force a different outcome this time. Stefani Stoeva will also appear in the WS final against Line Kjaersfeldt. MD will be between danish pairs Antonsen/Babic and Christiansen/Daugard. In MS dutch boy Mark Caljouw will face german hope Fabian Roth.

David Daugard is the second player reaching the finals in two different competitions, as he will try to win in XD with Maiken Fruergaard against dutch Robin Tabeling and Halkema Myke.

XD Podium where silver was "won" [ they already won that yesterday, today they lost the gold]. Apparently a deserved victory for the Danes, simply outplayed according to the Dutch team manager ... Good thing the streaming is working so well we could all witness it: [IMG]!
