hahA Me Hat is safe thankfully and well done to Rat achieving her goal so soon in the year.

Rat will stay number 3 as long as wang yihan does not enter the final. WY is 4667 behind and would need to replace her already lowest counting score 2660 so that a total of 7327 semi only worth 6420. JS gone below IR due to early knockout. Worst case IR 4th.

Even though she ranks #3 now. She still has a poor H2H records against top CHN WS players. I hope she can really reach the level of Susi Susanti and Bang Soo-Hyun - the last 2 WS players who can challenge the top CHN WS players. :)

She has only just turned 18 remember, Crazy talent to start competing winning games at 16-17 and to reach no.3 at 18. By far the best new talent out of even the dominant china in the last few years is li xuerui and she even 22. Plenty of time!

yes she will down to WR 5 this week, but hey consistent in Top 5 is a great accomplishment for the young 18 yo girl :)

about the poor H2H record against China WS Players, I think its just a matter of time... I see her determination ^_*

But don't push her too hard please.. she still a sweet teenager

she has a long journey to come :) I don't wish her to peak to fast like Mia Audina

    Schenk tips Ratchanok to shine

WITH her absence from the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships in Guangzhou, China from Aug 5-11, Germany’s Juliane placing her bet on Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon to spring a surprise in the women’s singles event.

World No. 4 Schenk, who is currently training in Kuala Lumpur with the national women’s singles team, admitted that although China are still the team to beat, it will be an open contest in the women’s singles department.

China have always managed to make it to the top, but I think it might be an open affair this year.

The World Championships is a little different as compared to the other Superseries events, where you can send in as many players you want.

At the World Championships, it’s limited to three or four players per country.

“Of course you have the experienced players such as Li Xuerui and Wang Yihan from China, but players like Ratchanok are the rising stars. I’d like to see how they perform at the World Championships,” Schenk said when met after her training session at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara.

Schenk, who has withdrawn from the World Championships after a fallout with the German Badminton Association, added the pressure will now be on the Chinese players.

Of course they (China) are used to the pressure, but at times like these, one has to see how they will handle it.

Countries like Japan, India and the other Thai players besides Ratchanok are also improving fast.

“Ratchanok is my favourite player, and she has come close to winning the All England Open this year (lost to Tine Baun in the final). I think it’s time for her to win a world medal,” Schenk added.

The 18-year-old Ratchanok, won her maiden title at the Yonex Sunrise India Open Superseries in April, and is also the most successful junior player, having won the World Junior title three times in a row from 2009-2011.
