Thats the reality and being practical, I guess. What about the China channels, any chance? I am pretty sure China is 'monitoring' Akane Yamaguchi. I am surprised AY beat Busanan in straight game "easily".
Btw, why isn't Nozomi playing in this tournament? She's slated to play in China Open in two weeks, so she must have been fit already.
Actually in 2nd game not easy for AY ,by the way congratulation go Akane Yamaguchi for WJC. Personally, I agree with japanese coach to withdraw her name in china open for protect her monitoring from china.
Too bad, Kevin/Masita cannot repeat their feat last week, as they were edged out in a thrilling 3-sets match 18-21, 22-20 (they saved 1 match pt in the second-set), 21-23. I think both pairs went all out to secure the win. Therefore, congratulations to Huang Kaixiang/Chen Qingchen for winning the XD title and ending INA's 2 year run in winning the XD at WJC. They are worthy winners, having beaten the AJC Champion Choi Sol Kyu/Chae Yoo Jung in the SF as well. Now, INA has to rebound and think of which players to prepare for the next AJC and WJC. Preparations will have to start now as both will be held earlier than usual (in Feb and April respectively). So, INA practically only has 2-3 months to prepare for AJC and then another 1.5 mths for the WJC!
Congrats to all medalists, CHN and KOR share two titles each while Japanese rising star Akane Yamaguchi won gold medal
Akane has written a new chapter of badminton history book, I believe, having won Superseries Title before WJC and she might write another chapter by winning the WC next year...who'd know!
Not true... not if the aftermath of what you said means that badminton doesn't retain its long-term worldwide popularity and participation......
The INA coaches in Bangkok said that Kevin-Masita already played outstanding badminton with a lot of mental toughness... the final result did not reflect the level of fantastic badminton played by all 4 players... Kevin-Masita have nothing to be ashamed about....
For all these young players, including Akane Y, the newly crowned WJC, it is essential that they play more often in the international circuit. There is nothing to hide at their age and so early in their career when they are still developing their game;therefore to avoid competing against the best in the world so as not to be studied by their rivals is to stagnate and be quickly overtaken by others.
understood what you mean... but popularity is built on excellency not by sharing... RI won her deserved 3 times WJC and thus year's WC... this helps the popularity of badminton in Thailand becoz they know they are able to be the best in this sport, not by other's generosity...
I was there and watched Kevin in his two matches in the team event final and his xd individual final on Sunday. He may have been the most impressive player I saw during the tournament. When the pressure was on, he showed up big almost everytime.
