Talent-wise, I honestly don't think she's as good as Rat. Rat made a lot of mistakes, as she is prone to at this stage of her career. The (slightly) more experienced Sung took advantage and swept home. You never feel Sung nor BaeYJ are good enough to threaten the Chinese team at the moment whereas with a player like Rat, there is always a chance for an upset. Even a Chinese coach (can't remember which one) pointed out how dangerous Rat can be.
I think Ratchanok is one of the players who has trouble with Sung's style. She beat Sung once but hasn't taken a game the other times. She has been troubling the Chinese players more. I won't deny the potential. Obviously, at only 16, Ratchanok's future looks bright, but that doesn't take away from Sung Ji Hyun. She has beaten Jiang Yanjiao, Wang Lin, and Wang Xin this year and was very close to taking out Wang Yihan. Liu Xin is the only Chinese player to beat her this year in straight games. She's coming into her own at age 20 and that's not a bad accomplishment. Lots of players still lack consistency or fitness or confidence at that stage in their career so we'll just have to wait and see.
I must admit Sung has Rat's number. She never looks comfortable against Sung. Just my opinion but if you ask any Chinese coach who they would prefer to avoid, I'm pretty sure they would say Rat.
At only 16, Ratchanok is still lacking in confidence . IMHO, at only 16, Ratchanok is still lacking in confidence. Just before the match, she was telling everyone how nervous she was. She, through facebook, said: "Wish God bless me amen". .
Let's see if Sung Ji Hyun can be very close to Wang Yihan's score again .
