Indeed, I'm afraid that INA Uber team can't take part in Wuhan next May, repetition of 2006 edition :(

Badminton: Injuries Hamper Indonesia’s Team Cup Preparations

    January 15, 2012

Injuries are making it difficult for Indonesia to prepare for the upcoming Thomas Cup and Uber Cup world team championships with at least four shuttlers forced to the sidelines.

The rash of injuries forced the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) to call off Friday’s intersquad scrimmage.

“We canceled the simulated games because it’s more important for the players to recover from their injuries,” PBSI secretary general Yacob Rusdianto said.

The fitness concerns added to a miserable weekend for Indonesian badminton, which was shut out again in a Super Series event.

With Nitya and Greys around, many possible line ups can be put up. Now, worst case the first double might be Vita/Nadia, other possibilities Meli/Shendy, 2nd double Lily/Vita or Meli/Lily or Shendy.

    vita/nadya as 1st pair

2nd, there are lot of combinations
    Liliyana/Shendy, Liliyana/Anneke, Liliyana/Meiliana
    shendy/meiliana, shendy/anneke
    anneke/meiliana

though, I hope Nitya and Greysia can be fully recovered in time :)

Liliyana Natsir/Shendy Puspa Irawati is a viable 2nd WD pair that has been put to test during the last Uber Cup campaign. They should be able to match most of the Asian's 2nd WD pair except for CHN and JPN.

The other alternative is to pair up Vita Marissa/Liliyana Natsir back as WD1 and let Meiliana Jauhari pair up with Shendy Puspa Irawati as WD2.

We still got Mel, Vita, Nadya, Lili, Shendy, Feinya, Debby... between the 6 of them, we are good enough to beat India, Thailand, and Malaysia... Sort of even against Singapore and Taipei... Just not good enough to beat KOR, JPN, and CHN... that's all.

I would not back Lili-Vita anymore because Vita's age... Vita does not have the stamina to be the 'banger' anymore...

I don't know if Shendy got any WD World Ranking points left... Let's assume she does not have any... even if so, Mel-Shendy should be WD 1 ahead of Lili-Vita because Mel's World Ranking is higher than Vita's...

Another alternative: Lili-Feinya... :) That would be our secret weapon...

Why PBSI still don't enter Frans into Thomas team? :(

hey, i've got some news from my uncle who works in Pelatnas..

    guess what?
    for uber team:
Vita/Lily will be placed as 1st WD.. ;)
Although the news isn't very accurate right now (the final decision has not stated yet by PBSI). But my uncle said that's highly probable, about 80%

    what do u guys think???

Usually Indonesia scratch doubles pairing surprise other team in the team event.

But Vita/Lily, I think they are not that new. Some of the opponent might have played them before.

It shows that PBSI still has not trusted the young players.

Firda is now INA WS#1 followed by April, Febe and Linda. If PBSI want to put Firda and Linda as WS#1 and WS#2. So they need to bring either Bella or Hera to team as WS#3.

Hope Nitya and Greysia will 100% fit later. I really don't hope to see any scratch pairs.. i think a 100% Grey/Mel is capable to challenge others countries WD#1 like Ha Jung Eun/Kim Min Jung, Mizukii/Reika, CWS/CYC.

Worse case, if Nitya and Greysia are not ready, i really confuse whether INA can really rely on this scratch pairs(possibilities) :
    -Shendy/Butet
    -Butet/Meiliana
    -Feinya/Shendy
    -Butet/Feinya
    -Feinya/Shendy
    -Vita/Butet

so the best way is pray for Nitya and Greysia to be in 100% fit condition later. don't think we can rely too much on the veteran Vita and incosistent pair Nadya/Vita. Can see how Vita play in SEA Games, lack in stamina, error prone, simply not at her best already. and eventhough Butet/Shendy create upset in UC 2010, i still worry about Shendy consistency.

Pray for Nitya and Greysia! We really need to rely on WD to get 2 points when facing KOR, JPN, THA and Chinese Taipei!

we can clearly see Vita/Butet game in SEA games. i don't think it is necessary to pair them.

And yes, actually pelatnas thought that vita/lily isn't really effective..

So this is the real squad for our thomas and uber cup (released this morning):

    thomas team:
    1. Simon
    2. taufik
    3. Hayom
    4. Tommy
    5. Ahsan/Bona
    6. Kido/Hendra
    7. Alvent/hendra
there's no change in our thomas team. I'm surprised  ~
And why hayom is in???? I prefer Alamsyah~

    Uber team:
    1. Firdasari
    2. Lindaweny
    3. Bellaetrix
    4. Maria febe
    5. Shendy/Lilyana (yes, they changed vita/lily into shendy/lily)
    6. Greysia/meiliana
    7. Anneke/Nitya
Well, for me, I'm not really satisfied with this squad. Why maria febe? I think hera desi is better compared to febe. (or not ?).. sigh..
    And, I don't really agree with shendy/lilyana.. I prefer lilyana/feinya
    and no place for vita/nadya..

    what do u guys think?

Hehehe.. I guess it right :p Firda and Linda as WS#1 and WS#2 and they bring Bella in ;) I think they still can mix the composition in WD depend on strategy later. Nitya and Greysia are in the list, so their condition are getting better? IMO good decision for not bringing Vita/Nadya in the team ;)

For Thomas Cup, it is the best squad. All 3 MD pairs should get a chance to be played and gain ranking points to help to go to Olympic. But the best of all is Kidho/Hendra is rank third so they will be playing against the second MD opponents which is easier.

However, the worry is whether the injured players can play their best. So I think it was rather a mistake to put Hayom in.

For WD, also the best possible squad. Of course, Vita/Nadya will lose their chance to gain points but if they put both Vita/Nadya, then there is no place for Butet which is even worse.

The worry is the same, whether the injured will be able to recover in time.

I heard, vita felt dissapointed for not chosen to be member of uber team.. She said the reason given by PBSI is not logical:
    http://olahraga.kompas.com/read/2012/01/24/21044767/Vita.Kecewa.Tak.Masuk.Tim.Uber

    N
ot sure enough, but at first, PBSI wants to include Vita in uber team. But ONLY vita, not nadya. Vita cannot accepted it, so then she refused.. She wants to join uber team, not only for herself, but also for nadya. And she feels more comfortable with nadya, her current partner.
With this decision come up, I don't think vita/nadya could gain more points for olympics..

    ah yes..
for injuries that happened to our team, I think some of them are able to recover..

from the last news I got, ahsan's condition is getting better. He's finally starts training now. He used traditional treatment, 'Bekam'.
Not sure for nitya and hayom (?)
But since PBSI include them in uber team, I think they're able to recover ...

Badminton: Squads Named as Indonesia Looks to End Drought

    Ami Afriatni | January 24, 2012

Vita Marissa’s withdrawal was the only surprise as the Indonesian Badminton Association announced the teams for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup on Tuesday.

The association, known as the PBSI, picked the country’s top players for the biennial world team championship’s Asian zone qualifying rounds in Macau from Feb. 13-19. The finals will take place from May 20-27 in Wuhan, China.

Men’s doubles specialist Bona Septano and women’s singles player Bellatrix Manuputty are the only shuttlers making their debut in the event.

“These are the best shuttlers we have right now,” PBSI secretary general Yacob Rusdianto said at the Cipayung training facility in East Jakarta on Tuesday. “We firmly believe the teams will qualify for the finals in China.”

The top five men’s teams in the qualifiers will go to the Thomas Cup finals, while the top four women’s teams will qualify for the Uber Cup finals.

In a potentially risky decision, the PBSI called up several players who are battling injuries.

Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka (leg), Mohammad Ahsan (arm), Greysia Polii (shoulder) and Nitya Krishinda Maheswari (hip) now have just over two weeks to overcome their injuries and get ready for the event.

“There’s still time for them to be back at their best because they started training again last week,” Yacob said.

Women’s doubles veteran Vita, who also missed out on the 2010 Uber Cup because of injury, said she had decided to withdraw from the team.

“It was because my current doubles partner, Nadya Melati, was not included on the team. Instead, [the PBSI] wanted to pair me with Liliyana [Natsir],” the 31-year-old shuttler said. “I had a good partnership with [Liliyana], but it was long ago.

“I asked the PBSI to call up Nadya but they refused. So I thought that it would be better for the team if I withdrew.”

have watched several matches of Greysia in MAS Open, i think she is OK already, but not yet 100%, still no power. Opponent give all the shots to her.
