Update: R4X110 at 30/31 is fantastic. Might take it to 32/33 when my Pandas get here... need some brave pills...
I've heard a lot of things about when string tensions get really high (zymax thread mentions ZM70 >30lb i think), and now this; what makes the string so good at these high tensions?
The string colour won't match the racquet........but then again you will be Yellow/Greened-up everywhere else!!!! BG80 Yellow will go with it very nicely.
Yellow/Green will go better, then again if you have two racquets you could try white in one and yellow/green in the other....or what about Zymax 65 in black to see what the effect is like???
To me, white = durable, yellow = power, red = extraordinary. I usually assign white to BG65Ti, yellow to BG66UM, and ZM67 to red
Sorry but, White = Gosen R4110X, Yellow = BG80, Black = ZM65 (not extraordinary, but ok), and there is no such colour as Red, it does not exist........
I didn't even know black ZM65 existed! I've been living inside the mybadmintonstore bubble for too long Red string on the right rackets looks intimidating. (Lin Dan, China) Yellow looks clean, upright, and in good form (LCW, Malaysia). White seems to be the standard for long periods of time (TH, Indonesia; PG, Denmark)!
My final verdict: it goes from quite playable to dead pretty quickly; if you don't string your racket every month, it's not a keeper.
I guess it fits MarkA perfectly then! as for me, I play at lower tensions so I guess I won't try this string unless someone disagrees with that.
You should still try it - it'll give you much better feel at any tension that most everything else, and the tension loss won't be as noticeable.
Having tested the string, it's remains firmly off my radar and I won't be stocking it. Way too much vibration for me. Maybe I was unlucky and there was an issue with the set I had. However, I test a lot of string and never had this issue before. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
There is no issue - the string definitely does vibrate off the sweet spot. Maybe my nerves are just dead, or I'm just more accurate.
I recently purchased a reel to try. Strung my heavier 3U Victor JJS (88.5g 303mm BP) @ 25 x 27.5 lbs (Pre-stretch, constant pull with Wise). Played 3 sessions in a week (3 hours per session) and have already noticed fraying of the strings....thankfully all in the sweet spot. Has anyone else experienced this? I played mostly doubles and a few games of hard singles with the racket. I normally uses Ashaway Zymax 65 @25x27.5lbs on my JJS. Here are my general thoughts on the Gosen R4X110 so far: Very good repulsion and hitting sound when striking the bird. Decent feel and control on net shots. My only concern is durability.
Yep, the string does fray, but just keeps on going & going, much longer than what you expect...... Don't worry about the durability, just play with it and enjoy.
The coating is definitely fragile, but the core is actually pretty strong - two of my Thrusters look like they could go any minute, and have looked this way for 20+ hours... but they just don't.
