just ask the nice Big Boss Lan to borrow those rackets to measure, sure she always willing to do whatever for you!! =)
maybe next week. i need to test the VT60 and VT80 first and some other projects before i can get to the NR. i wish i have more time to play badminton!!!
Hmmm...always has to do with measurements, do I hear pure maths prof here? ...maybe it's the perpective of the focal points in lenses? One on top of the other?
Indeed a physical inspection is needed . They look the same in this pic whereas as per post #2 the FX was rumoured to have the short handle:
i measured them. the FX has a slightly longer shaft / short handle. the difference between the RP/FX is 3mm. the total distance from the base of the handle to the top of the T-joint is the same.
FX frame thickness: t-joint : 12.43mm 5 o'clock : 12.6mm 3 o'clock: 12.65mm 1 o'clock: 11.8mm top: 11.55mm RP frame thickness: t-joint: 12.55mm 5 o'clock: 12.95mm 3 o'clock: 12.54mm 1 o'clock: 11.8mm top: 11.65mm in other words, they are practically the same. the slight difference can be attributed to slight molding variations and paint thickness.
NR handle and shaft length is similar to the NS series. There seems to be a deviation in the fonts and overall design in genre from previous series like the AT, ARCS, NS and even the VT.
Gotta admit, the graphics are absolutely brilliant! Butterflies invading my court!!! or, it could all just be Kwun's professional camerawork...
pretty racket deserves a nice photo shoot. having said that, i do notice that Yonex is taking a slightly different direction on graphics design. while the whole design of the 700FX/RP is pretty Yonexian, there are some new elements that they put in: 1. large model name fonts. IIRC, this is the first time Yonex use such large wrap around fonts on the shaft. other manufacturers have done this long ago but Yonex is catching up on it: 2. new more vertical patterning that was started with the VT80: 3. and i don't know what this pattern is, but it does look nice. the FX has it too but it is silver on while so i didn't manage to capture it properly. 4. and lastly Yonex using non-silver glitter.
Just want to bring up another design change. To add stability to the new NR700, Evil Empire added additional strip or graphite on the side from B2 to B10. See picture 4. Sorry, I was asked to mention this point. Usually the aero frame are less stable than box frame. Also, you might find a surprise when you hit an off center shot near the top of the frame. Yes, it might break if you smash too hard...
let me see if i can feel the extra thickness... are you now the spokesman for the evil empire? where do i apply for that job?
moved the NR500 to a new thread: http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/102851-Yonex-Nanoray-500
Hmmm, it gives me the yips...totem embedded specifically on the inside. Maybe, must work up a chant before the charm can be harnessed.
