It's has been a long journey for our Dato'. Started as nobody, then detected by Morten frost when he was with PBA, absorbed into the academy and later nourished by LM and Datuk M until he becomes world no. 1.

The path to become no. 1 is no easy task, let alone maintaining it until now is one hell of a difficult job specification especially if you are in an era where there is another player that already can beat you (super Dan) and also another player that now has able to beat you ( CL) exist....not to mention other new players that is hell bent to beat you for the sake of reputation.

I strongly believe that Dato' can remain his world ranking until the OG to ensure better seeding and it's better if until he retire.......but eventually, like any great player preceding him, his grasp on the no. 1 title will slip away as age and time goes by. As it is better if he can retain his status as world no.1 beyond the OG until he retires, but if not, then i would not be dissapointed.

What actually i want in his resume to be just before he retire, regardless of what his world ranking is that people will remember and address him as :

"HERE COMES DATO' LEE CHONG WEI, THE CURRENT OLYMPIC AND WORLD CHAMPION"

........and wouldn't that be very great.

Hahaha you will be a wiser man not to count the chickens before they are hatched.
Not only that, you may cause the dato to lose eventually, even his most cherished dream of becoming OLY champ. Remember in the past much expectation was piled on him which led to many of his failures.

I was hoping that LCW will at long last achieve his biggest prize but with your boasting you may have spoilt his chances. And you should know that the finish line is still some way to go
before LOG and anything can happen in the interim. The dato has experienced these before, much to his detriment.

Why do you still continue to nag like an old lady? Don't you get my earlier message?
What happens if something happens to the dato and he could not play even in the LOG?

I've a feeling that the wily LD is camouflaging a strategy to confound and mislead others into thinkiing he has lost form and is not interested in the LOG anymore.

But as far as I'm concerned he is as dangerous as the lion outside his den. That is Li-n D-n!

2012 Malaysia Open SS: LCW has shown his determination (at the SF defeating CL)

    .
WOW... What a great match it was - at the just finished Semi-Final match between Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long (at the 2012 Malaysia Open SS Semi-Finals).

This match was many times more spectacular than the match at the 2012 Korea Open SSP Finals where Lee Chong Wei defeated Lin Dan.

Will Lin Dan and Chen Long be giving up chasing for the No.1 seed at the 2012 OG? I would think so.

For some BCers who are thinking other than the No.1 MS position, please think again. :D:D:D We repeat - In this thread we are not talking about which player is better - But will Lee Chong Wei remain World No.1 until the 2012 OG?.

From this 2 tournament, he should be top. He is the most consistent in terms of being in the finals and winning tournaments in 2012. ;)

Yes, with his on fire form now, i think it is hard for anyone including lin dan to overtake him before the OG.

Many BCers would have been surprised that LCW's World No.1 position has lasted so long. :):):)

Can we confirm that LCW holds the record for keeping the World No.1 the longest ?

    .
I wonder if some BCers can confirm that LCW holds the record for keeping the World No.1 ranking the longest period of weeks/years in our Badminton history.

Morten Frost spent 12 years in the Top 3 of the World Rankings

    .
Thanks AlanY. You have caused me to check up on Morten Frost. :):):)

Wikipedia confirmed that Morten Frost spent twelve years in the top three of the world rankings.

    Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morten_Frost

From what I see, this record could be broken by Lin Dan soon.

Regarding Morten Frost being World No.1 for 7 years, I shall confirm it later. I shall get in touch with DEN Badminton players.

Since we are in OG. One suggestion is. Since labour is cheap in malaysia comparing to hiring foreign talents. ;)

Why don't BAM hire a few committees members to just focus on the strength and weaknesses of Lindan and Chen Long?

Have a review of this every week or 2. See if the hypothesis is true. ;) Bingo? ;) LCW owes me big time... lol. ;)

This can be applied to politician bribery case. Put 2 auditors to 1 minister. See if they dare to corrupt. lol. ;)
