So far, 2 INA MD pairs make it to R16....way way above my expectation (I predicted only 1 pair will make it)!

Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto/Afiat Yuris Wirawan [6] won their first-match of the year as they beat Chan Peng Soon/Ong Jian Guo 20-22, 21-18, 21-16.

Earlier, Markus Fernaldi Gideon/Agripinna Prima Rahmanto Putra [5] continue to defy critics (who say that they lack power to become a top 10 MD pair) as they beat the ex WJC winner Mak Hee Chun/Teo Kok Siang also in 3-sets: 21-18, 20-22, 21-13.

HTH/TWK just scraped through despite the INA pair leading almost all the way in the 2nd and 3rd game. HTH is pretty mentally strong, probably utilizing it to give them a win over the young INA pair.

Well, we can see from this tournament that the INA have many young talented MD, ready to take on MAS's backup pairs any time.

INA vs MAS, MAS wins 1 out of 3 so far, 2 more to go.

Wow...Ulin/Ricky race to a quick 14-8 lead in the first-set in just 6 mins.

Once again, I never expect Rahmat/Berry (arguably the weakest among the INA Pelatnas MD pairs) to really push Hoon/Tan till the end...only losing it 20-22 in the third-set. They also had a match pt in the second-set.

Bona/Ahsan can't beat GVS/LKW, but younger pairs can!

21-12 to Ulin/Ricky (who's arguably more attack-minded than Markus/Agri) in the first-set. Let's see if they can maintain the momentum in the second-set...something which I highly doubt. Expect a third-set.

Forget about Bona/Ahsan.....they are the only top 10 pair without a SS title so far.

    Ricky/Ulin took the 1st set 21-12 from Goh/Lim
Very unexpected Ricky/Ulin won so easily in 1st game...

Goh/Lim usually take a while to warm-up their engine. I expect them to take the second-set.

Early proceedings in the second-set are indeed pointing to a decider now.

I do think that their game is quite flat... not much variation...
Oh, looks like GVS/LKW have finally settled. Meanwhile I can recall Christopher/Andrei giving Shoji/Naoki a tough fight before. But Vountus/Lutfi, a pair only sent to IC and GP tourneys are giving them trouble.

Ulin/Ricky lost the second-set 12-21. They need a good start in the rubber-set to have any chance at all in this match.

    Identical score for GVS/LKW, 21-12
It's all down to the rubber!

Vountus/Lufti are higher-ranked (WR45) and they are more experienced. Besides, the MAS pair was sent to at least 7 GPG and 1 GP tourneys last year.

Game over for Ulin/Ricky. The lesson is: a good start in the first-set is not enough! You need to maintain your momentum!

As expected, both Ulin/Ricky and Andrei/Christopher lost to the more experienced MAS pairs.

3-2 for MAS MD pairs against INA pairs today.
