    You are so nice to still give your opponent a chance... I'd go all the way to demand "on the line" and "impossible to reach" spots. I do not care if the shot is slower than 4.21km/h for the first 3mm (but that will be extremely boring).

    yup

    if we look at all the best MD players now and since like tong g, parl jubong, candra, sigit, jona R, KDM, LYD, setiawan, and many i can't recall, they are not top smashers.

    Pretty meaningless title to hold. Too bad TBH doesn't hold the title of world champion like fu haifeng does. Although of course, this means I can brag to my friends about how fast badminton is. 400+ km/h is definitely something nice

    This gimmick from Yonex is just a joke.
    Shame on them for shameless hyping

    Your analogies are interesting but wrong.

    The previous measuring system covered the first 15cm distance, measuring the time the shuttle takes to cover this distance. It did not measure a smaller arbetrary distance within this 15cm only. Let's compare this to measuring a car's 0 to 60 mph performance.

    The new Yonex system covers only the first 3cms.:eek: Let's compare this to measuring a car's 0 to 6 mph performance. Why do this ?????

    Maybe I should measure my Fiat Panda's and the wife's Opel Corsa's performance over the 0 to 6 mph range and then go round saying that the winner is the fastest car in the world.

    Cameras and electronics were perfectly capable of measuring accurate speeds in the past, so I'm bewildered by your comments about advancements, and your photo analogy doesn't make sense.

    We aren't hatin'. We are just discussing..... debating..... evaluating..... looking at all viewpoints....... considering the facts..... summarizing.......

    This process will take a few days, and at the end everyone will come to an agreement..... that I was right.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    1. Let me do some calculations;

    With the measuring method Yonex used for their marketing, i.e. 3cm from hitting, if TBH could make 421Km/h, then with the same method, what speed can FHF make?

    I assume, on average, the top players can make 310Km/h at maximum in play (if you want to check this, see the videos of 2005/6 WC).

    Then, the equation is simple: 310:421 = 322: X

    The calculation says that, under the same environment and equipment, FHF could make at least "437Km/h".

    2. If you see the slow motion video on the Yonex site (Kawamae's shot), you can check the shuttlecock, in 3cm, stays with its feathers shrunken right after the hitting, which gives far faster speed.

    When you measure the speed of a tennis serve, they measure the time elapsed during the complete flight from the hitting to the baseline. I understand we use different type of "ball" in badminton. So, we might need to define the measurement method for the speed "officially" to understand and compare exactly how much fast our sports is.

    To take account the characteristics of birds, we may define the speed with various measures such as:

    - the momentary speed; speed during the distance of 3cm or 15cm
    - the speed to the net
    - the speed to the court of opponents
    - the speed to the baseline

    3. The Speed War might be ignited among the vendors;

    - LiNing might do the same thing with FHF, (Wow, 444Km/h)
    - Victor might do it through JJS. (Hey, over 450Km/h, super-human record!)

    Enjoy~ :)

    I do agree with narnia, it's like science, we need to have an internationally defined measurement, else everyone would disagree with everyone.

    Anyway it is cool, the shuttle going faster than an F1 car at its fastest in the first 3cm-15cm :D

    Let BAM and Malaysian shuttlers have all these syiok sendiri awards i.e. hardest smash, best hair design, longest sideburn, most expensive bracelets, most unique tattoos etc etc. Whats important to LYB's China, Danish, Indonesian & co shuttlers are the big medals.

    I would say TBH's hardest smash record sits very nicely next to our tallest flag pole, biggest roti canai & most eggs crushed in a minute achievements.

    ... hopefully, TBH can put his 400km/h+ smashes to good use in tonight's MD final. I am sure the Danish pair is now trembling and shivering with fear.

    Malaysia Boleh!

    Too bad they dont have speed radar. Btw TBH was using NS9900 during the Japan Open.

    I will post a video of TBHs record breaking feat when im free.

    I doubt it is the technology of the racket that would make the difference. IMHO, all you need is an extra stiff , head heavy racket , strung around 28-29lbs and you can smash the hack out of a shuttle !

    Is good to hold the fastest smash...
    but end of the day, no monetary reward...
    all TBH need to do is to smash harder in every tournament
    simple as ABC...

    These guys can do wonders with ball. Their juggling skills is out of this world.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qn_88aADFgI

    ... but they can never be like this team;

    Whats the point of having the hardest smash record or being able to juggle the shuttlecock with one's head for 2 hours? In professional badminton, it is all about winning them big major titles. Unless TBH is looking at a career with the Royal London Circus, then fine, having the hardest hitting smash will come handy especially when he is in the ring with Charlie the monkey.

    Rexy, Park Joo Bong, Christian Hadinata ... they are legends in the game. And to these giants, its the big medals that counts.

    TBH not even trying hard at all. This test is questionable.
