ZM62 is great string, but not for the winter play here. I broke two of them (26x28lbs) over 4x3 hr sessions, and moving to use YY NBG98 for winter now.

Just got some of Dink's "roofing nail" grommets - they're LONG (almost an inch). I hope and pray they're the answer to my "borking" problem:D. If so, Z62 goes back up to 27 lbs!

WOW a whole inch? That sounds like it would almost hit the top cross O.O

Mine only broke in the same spot after a mis-hit. I think it was a bad grommet because it's the exact same spot. I have the ZM62 in my Ti-10 and it's fine after about 2 months (26lbs). My Precision would break 26lbs in about 2 weeks in that spot.

BTW. I also have the Panda send me some grommets with the TPro for the Precision. I asked for the long, but wasn't really expecting a 1" grommet! Might have to cut that down to size so I don't look weird.

A pic of the roofing nails to scale against a Yonex NSP. Look good to me, but they could have been even longer!

I think I like the long "roofing nail" grommets which can protect the vertical main strings from "mis-hits".

    i think i have a record.

i strung a AT700 back in October 11th with ZM62 @ 27lbs. my plan was to test out the string in a heavy stiff racket at high tension to see how it performs. it did great. very repulsive and great feel. lo and behold, Janet tried it and said "Thanks". that was the last time i touched that racket.

she loved it. she stopped using her other AT700 (with BG80) and felt the ZM62 magic.

yesterday, she came and told me the string broke. almost 4 MONTHS later. she plays once or twice a week and even though she doesn't hit very hard, she does give out a nice omph when she hits and she normally breaks a BG80 every month or so.

this ZM62 lasted her 4 months. and only after i asked her earlier in the day how come her string lasted so long. so now i am guilty of jinxing her as she broke the string right after...

If you don't mishit, ZM62 can last quite a while.

Well kwun, since you have to restring your wife's racket at least you have something to give her for Valentine's Day.:)

Very thin strings will break easily, much more so than thicker strings, from even a small miss hit. This is particularly relevant in colder climates. If you miss hit, even occasionally, then very thin strings are not for you.

I can attest to this, I string at 23X25lbs. I usually only break it once every 6 weeks, playing about 7 hours a week. I rarely mis-hit on the string bed, when I mis-hit it goes off the top of the frame... Not really sure how everyone breaks strings so often! I think playing at excessively high tensions maybe the cause!

Zymax 62 is the best performing string I have found though, for power and control. I love the really stiff feel of the stringbed, really feels like you're connecting with the shuttle as you make a shot and you can put it anywhere.

    nice.

a friend of mine, who shall remain unnamed since, for shame, he only strings tennis racket, got a pack of badminton sized teflon tubing with his new stringing machine. without any use he gave them all to me. i am going to try them to see if they would serve the same purpose.

So I took my SW35 to the stringers today.

We were having a conversation about strings and I was going to try BG65@28lbs. But then I remembered about Zymax strings. I asked if he had any, and to my suprise he had ZM62 & ZM67.:)

At first I was hesitant over stringing with ZM62. So I was just going to go ahead with BG65@28lbs or BG80@27lbs. But, I decided "what the heck" so I went for ZM62@24lbs, I was hesitant over stringing any higher as I haven't got much experience with this string, and as it is very thin, I wasn't sure how long it would last. (I am hoping 1-2 months :)) on the otherhand I haven't strung "this low" for about a year now (I have been using 26lbs for a while) so I am interested to see what happens.:)

It was expensive:( if this breaks quick but I really like it, I might have to invest in a cheap stringing machine:p

It's only about $5 a pack. I can play with 26lbs tension and would last about 1 month of 3x3hr per week sessions.

I can get it for about £4.10 a pack, but I paid almost double that today, as I needed my racket for a league match this week. (that I forgot about :() and if I ordered the strings online I wouldn't get them this week

    LD rules,

You will do fine with Z62.:) It is a lovely repulsive string.
You are a bit brave changing string and tension just before a competition. But you will do just fine. Let us know how it goes.

Don't string Z62 at SiW 35's best tension (28) because I'm quite sure you'll be doing a ton of restringing. Z67 on the other hand handles it quite alright.
