Well..... I could offer G5, but you'd have to pre-order it (pay up-front) because I can't at his early stage commit to allocating an unknown number of rackets to G5 with the risk of not being able to sell them. So.....you'd have the choice of either - 1. G4, you pick the weight and gross BP. 2. G5, and you get whatever within the model tolerance. I'd like to be able to cater for everyone, but with this initial order all I'll be able to do is my best, and look forward to being able to cover the whole gamut with subsequent runs.
also, you have to think about what sort of cover you will include with your racket. (can't remember you mention anything about it during the whole thread) 1) normal case 2) cloth bag like their do in asia.
Cloth bag. These aren't beginner rackets and I assume everyone who buys one has a racket bag. If not.....too bad.
+1 on this, cloth bag is cheaper than normal case....and its cheaper to ship the racket with cloth bag as the weight is lesser too. anything to bring down the cost is most welcome.
hi maklike, i would like to share my experience with u and my intension is not to disappoint u. in my area one guy he says he got factory in taiwan but his market is not in australia in indonesia bit weird. And so far he made 2 rackets of his own brand but he also sell other brand rackets like yonex cheaper than other online retailer like calibre. his yonex price matches with taiwan price most of the time. now get back to the point his own brand racket doesn't sell at all. i've seen those rackets, specs are great but playability and price not great at all. ppl go for different racket other than brand rackets when the price is right not by the specs all the time. i wish u best of luck with ur project but also i don't want u lose money.
Things only sell as well as you promote them, so as long as you bring something unique to the table and tick all the boxes, I don't see why they wouldnt do well. Dan Chien has made a good little business for himself, and I plan on doing the same. The problem I see with many of the 'alternative' brands, is that they just look like bad copies of famous makers, or just have shockingly bad graphic design. It doesn't matter how good your racket performs if you don't think it looks hot. When you have a visceral response to your gear, you play better. Most of the small brands don't get this. Their rackets look dinky, hap-hazard, and all they try and do is compete on price. They don't have strong branding, visual identity, or a design language. You have no emotional response to these brands. You can only go so far thinking you've been clever saving yourself a few bucks, but that buzz soon wears off and you wish you'd spent that extra 20 bucks or whatever on the thing you really wanted. Absolutely, there are people for which performance is all that matters, and I'm not interested in those people - they're already well catered for. But if you want a racket with the 'show' as well as the 'go', where pulling it out of your bag makes you feel formidable, part of something grass-roots and real, with edgy modern design.... You're in the right thread I guess I better start talking to the 'Minister of Finance'
@MT - maybe a consideration to add the BP onto the shaft? I've seen some rackets add Weight and BP onto the shaft of rackets. Probably not necessary...but I think BP is a nice thing to have so I don't have to measure it myself .
Is the shaft going to be the slim type? The victor website shows the BS10 at full stiffness, so I'm guessing this one will be as well?
I'm aiming for non-US and non-EU Victor guage shaft stiffness, which is oøooo On my scale it will be ooøoooo The current plan* is for the racket to have a BP tolerance of 300-305mm, and a weight of 84-87g. Gross. I'm not going to be playing the 'U' game, as it's pretty silly. *Everything is subject to change as I'm easily influenced and indecisive
Nah, they're mostly going to be 'light' 3U's (80-84.9 = 4U / 85-89.9 = 3U). I like this weight range for a good all-rounder. Some more design fun, just to confuse matters......Mirror Gold fade to Anodic Bronze, with gold hologram logos and highlights.....and the working drawing for the shaft details.......
The gold is classier than the green and orange for sure. But now who's getting sucked into the Olympics fervor too?
