Sorry, they're not available locally so I really don't have a clue. How is the packaging of the 1st gen red string?
Check back a few pages, a comparison has already been done iirc. Secondly there is no red available for 1st gen so any red Zymax by default is 2nd gen .
really? i'ven been buying loads of the red zymax' using the old packaging. but i do notice that the red ones last (much much) longer than yellow.
Ashaway Zymax 67 Ashaway Zymax 62 Which is more durable? Which gives a better sound? Which holds tension best? Whats the minimum tension to get the best out of the string, I prefer 25lbs is that enough to get the most out of the strings And compare it to the BG80, which would you pick Thanks
1. zm67 2. zm62 3. similar neither of them plays like BG80. both are slightly softer than BG80. you just need to try it out to see if you like it. 25lbs is fine. make sure you are getting the new ones and not the old one.
Hey Kwun, Which one would you pick out of the 3, I have such a hard time picking strings, I do so much research and everyone has different opinions. All I care about in a string is Durability, sound and holding tension and is there any way to know whether I have the new ones apart from asking my stringer that has made 2 mistakes haha
BG80. you just have to ask him. or look at the package that he has. the new one is red/black color. look back a few pages for the photos i posted.
Tried the new Zymax 67 for a good couple of weeks, was previously using BG80 and BG66UM, all at 24lbs. This string seems to lack a fraction in power vs both the Yonex strings. I would say control is a little better than BG80 and the string feels a fraction softer (which I think I like). It's hard to be 100% sure because of the softer feel but I'm fairly certain this string loses it's tension (a lot) quicker than BG80. I strung a friends racket with Zymax 70 and that has also lost tension relatively quicker than BG80, dunno if it's because of the different string thickness though? I wouldn't normally comment on hitting sound as I don't consider it a performance attribute, however I played a league match right after putting on the Zymax 67 (broke the strings the day before...yay timing) and it was really really noisy. On one point an opponent hit a short clear and I jump smashed targetting the feet of the opposition lady (it was mixed, they were side formation) and she let out a little yelp in response to the contact sound. Never had anything like that before in a match, and the strings just seemed really loud to the point I was finding it a little distracting. One downside though. I picked the red version of the string and in one of the venues I played it's a very dark background. I was finding I was losing the racket face in the background blackness, white strings obviously stand out in that scenario. Racket was Yonex Nanoray 700FX
There's pretty much no string that sounds better than Z62 at a given tension... until it goes "bang". If you want bass, go for Z70.
If you really want a massive sound go for bg68ti. Nothing sounds quite like them in my opinion! Although quite why hitting sound would be top of your priority on a string I'm not really sure. If you are hitting the shuttle cleanly then you can generate a "crack" sound like the pro's do with pretty much any string, unless it is at a very low tension, >22lbs ish. As for durability I can't comment, I don't break strings as often as most people on here. New zymax 62's have lasted me 2 months so far, playing about 7 hours a week with feather shuttles. Tension drop isn't that bad either. I don't have the most powerful smash but I do hit the shuttle cleanly most of the time, so no accidental slicing on smashes or clears which really eats into strings. Neither do I mis-hit much either, which is a real string killer!
It's taken a long time to convince me to move away from Yonex strings (>20 yrs). I've been a massive fan of Yonex strings until very recently when I heard about the Zymax range and coupled with the price hike of Yonex strings I started to look into alternatives. I've always been aware of the Ashaway strings and how good some say they are, but it's probably this thread that has tipped me over to the dark side and I've just placed an order for the following. 3 x ZM62 White 3 x ZM65 White 2 x ZM67 White Some of you probably already know, I'm not a fan of the ArcSaber 10, but a massive fan of the 8DX. I have BG80 on the AS10 and BG65ti on the AS8DX all at 26/27lb. I'm going to restring my AS10 and my questions are: Which ZM string should I use for the AS10 and what tension should I apply to mimic 26/27lb? This will be the first time I have used any string other than yonex so hopefully it will be a good experience!
I've tried the ZM67 Red and Green version... Didn't like it at all Tried in on my N90 (Red) and ZForce (Green)... Both didn't give me the feel I got using BG80P
I have about 13pcs ZM62 red and 4pcs ZM67 red excess to my requirement, which I would like to dispose of.
