But Paint is so........... 'boring'.... :D

I had been fortunate enough to have a copy of licensed Photoshop 7 to used at the office, so, I'd find anything else pretty boring.

    Just kidding. :)

aside from it's simplistic interface... paint is surprisingly powerful... it's better than what came with my scanner(s) anyway.

Are there any new and simple software in the market? Photoshop CS3 is just too complicated sigh.... Would like to use the software to crop, quick fix and resize to upload to this website.

Try lightroom. I've been using it on my latst HK Open pics. Pretty good.

So simple, I needed Kwun to help me work out how to use it!

lightroom is awesome for very fast sorting and adjustment of photos. things like crop, exposure, color adjust, etc.

for real editing more powerful softwares are still needed.

You guys are all on PCs ;)
    You don't know what you're missing. :D

Check out Aperture (it's for a Mac, of course)
The apple website should be an eye-opener

PS: It's never too late to change :p

    I'd say...

..for the simple tasks that you're after, of simple cropping, quick fix and resizing, i'd go with brl's suggestion of using the Microsoft Paint (standard in most if not all PCs)..........it doesn't get any cheaper.......and simpler and (free) than that..;)
Or if you'd like to try, you can check out PictureTrail Photo Editor or Paint.NET (very similar to Photoshop)..I believe both are free and can be downloaded from download.com..
*Btw, where's our bigredlemon??..it seems like i haven't seen him post in here for ages..:p

I just use the freeware PICASA from Google. Its simple to use and not too technical compared to Photoshop. I just don't what kind of photo editing requirements you have, but if its just for adjusting contrast, brightness, sharpness, cropping, resizing, etc.. I think this is a good one.

Wow, didn't expect this thing to turn up again!

Anyway, I take back what I said about GIMP. Tried using it when Photoshop wasn't available in the past two months and heck is was difficult to use.

If you have the dosh, go Photoshop. Even the older version 7 (if possible, CS) will be more than adequate for most things people do and more.

It's the granddaddy of graphics editing software.

    But that has been resolved.
Adobe now has a very collaborative union with Apple :)

In fact, the Creative Suite 3 package (which has all the pro software including Photoshop) has now been released for OS X Leopard, Apple's latest OS for the Mac.

And, you bet, it works faster and better on a Mac :p

I think Google's Picasa should work.

Photoshop is ofcourse the best but can be a bit tough to learn. :)

definitely GIMP, runs on any OS, its free, its small, its just as powerfull if not more powerfull then photoshop (depends on opinion) and has endless plug-ins and scripts. take a couple of tutorials to get used to the interface, specially if you are photoshop veteran. i think theirs a plugin that makes gimp's interface look just like photoshop if your used to that interface. but yah get GIMP

If you use a mac, get your self a copy of Aperture, easy and fast to use plus you can edit in full screen with no annoying boxes around the edge of your photos! you can learn all the basics in about 30mins and if you have a whole bunch of photos taken under the same conditions, you can edit the first pic then apply those changes to all the rest. down side is it's only for Mac, sorry PC users. You have my sympathy.
