It was nice to see Ko back to something like his best in the mixed semi final India Super series. I know the Indonesians weren't playing great but I though Ko was more positive and sure of himself - like pre LYD Ko. Hope he carries on to improve and also with Shin in the MD!!!
very much agreed... it was very nice to see him play with so much new found freedom in both md and xd (even though they were fortunate that natsir was not her usual self)
i think ko future is in MX... he seems to be too slow & not skillful enuf for MD but just the right mix for MX
He isnt slow at all, he is amongst the best when it comes to court coverage in the back....he isnt the most agile around the net (not as flexible as some others and pretty tall) though and has his weaknesses in defense, which are more exploitable in MD
sorry for my poor description, my meaning of slow is his reflexes as compare to other top MD players. yes, he is fast, build like a 100m sprinter...
I thought KSH played well in the Indian Open. In the MX match, he seems more relax and confident on court. Glad to see him play well.
He did play better, esp in the match against Owi/Butet. The Korean pair was dismantled so easily in the All-England SF 2014, but, in Saturday's match, they displayed more confidence and played extremely well to beat the reigning All-England and World Championships winner. The Koreans' defense was so good and it was not easy for Owi/Butet to break them in just a few shots (like before) That resulted in long-rallies that suited the Korean pair as the INA pair was the one more likely to make the error in long-rallies.
OMG, i just wished for Ko to beat LYD at WC finals. Knew chances was very slim but what a surprise. Phew. EPIC win over LYD!!!! very sweet for Ko for years to come.
Congratulations to Ko Sung Hyun and partner Shin Baek Cheol to become world champion, beating his previous partners the Almighty Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong
Well done Ko fantastic result to beat LYD and Yoo after everyone thought it was a foregone conclusion. Great all round play and I just hope that they continue to play like this!
I think they tried to prove to their Korean coach and head coach that they can beat any one and they did
From a recent exhibition game Ko/Shin vs Lee/Yoo, good to see KSH gaining confidence, stepping out from LYD's shadow and having so much fun since he's won a few SS XD titles with KHN and WC with Shin last year. He was high fiving the linesman and the umpire, and getting the crowd behind him... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnyXWJJcuE0
He beat the olympic champions with a partner whom I consider the weakest of the top players. I think Ko is seriously underrated... The younger crop of female players look a lot more exciting, so hopefully he'll pair up with one of them (probably not going to happen before the olympics though, unfortunately; he'd have a much better chance with Chae YJ, Choi ?? or Shin SC).
