    as i mentioned earlier

each and everyone of us give our own assessment of who's the best smasher

then run a poll or something to find the popular ones

at least we got something rather than endless debate here

what say you, thread starter yoppy?

..so what if you have those criterias set??..that's fine with me..
The point is, who created that list??..The way i see it, those criterias were used to create the list, in the 1st post (of this thread), don't they?? And as far as i can see, this is still pretty much "Yoppy's List of World's Best Smashers ever lived" as there's still no poll or polls set-up, yet...:p

*Are we really going to do a pre-voting prior to this poll??..how many names of players will be thrown in for people to vote? what is the minimum no. of votes required to put the names in the polls/polls?? 5? 10? 15?..:p

maybe you should indicate why you named them

is it because of the power, repetitive smashes (like mosquitoes? oopsh... makis kido?) or deceptive or deadly

    something like that..

ok thats good and since you are the thread opener, sorry... starter..

you can inform members to put in maybe not more than 15 names of players smashes and why he or she thinks is/are the best.

key words to be used here should be:

    1/ deceptive
    2/ loud
    3/ flat
    4/ fast
    5/ repetitive
    6/ ....
(just helping here, any suggestions are welcome)

then you have to think of a format so that its easier to refer later when the polling day comes

or get some opinion from cheung

Some of us here are not familiar with the players of the era before 2000. :(

I list most of them because of the power and thundering sound of their smashes.
Fu Hai Feng need no introduction. He is the fastest smasher in the world. Shuttlecock speeding more than 300 km/hour! OMG!
As for Liem Swie King he's famous for his jump back in the 70s and 80s.
For Lin Dan and Taufik H, they both have a powerful and deceptive smashes.
And of course Heryanto Arbi he is famous for his "1000 watt or volt" smash.

My list of criteria for Yoppy and mod to consider:

    1. Consistent
    2. Winning set-up (effective)
    3. Accuracy
    4. Shock value (deceptive in angles and direction)
    5. Killer (needs no elaboration :D)

    There you go guys,

I went through from the first page and (if im not missing anything) here's the list/count that players name is voted / praised by you guys and me. And as many have suggested i devided them into 2 groups (single and doubles)

    MS list:
    1. Liem Swie King x 4
    2. Heryanto Arbi x 5
    3. Yang Yang x 3
    4. Taufik Hidayat x 3
    5. Lin Dan x 6
    6. Lee Chong Wei x 1
    7. Morten Frost x 2
    8. Zhao Jianhua x 3
    9. Paul Erik Hoyer-Larsen x 1
    10. Sun Jun x 2
    11. Misbun Sidek x 1
    12. One spot up for grap...........name your hero here!!! :D

    MD list:
    1. Fu Hai Feng x 6
    2. Tan Boen Hong x 5
    3. Jung Jae Sung x 4
    4. Cheah Soon Kit x 2
    5. chandra wijaya x 1
    6. rexy mainaky x 4
    7. Eddy Hartono x 1
    8. Halim Haryanto x 2
    9. Rick Subagja x 2
    10. Sigit Budiarto x 2
    11. Markis Kido x 3
    12. Park Choo Bong x 1

I have taken out these 3 names out to make the list of 12
    13. Kim Moon Soo x 1
    14. Zheng Bo x 1
    15. Rudy Gunawan x 1

What i will do is to create a separate thread for the MD. Andt that leaves this thread in the hands of the mods to decide (as i obviously cant create the poll myself) whether they want to have a poll or not, right mods?

Good, we managed to get a better poll. Hope you understand why the first request for a poll wasn't given by the mods.:D

..we FINALLY have a thread for "The best MD smasher ever lived" going..*sigh*:p
The lists from a few posts back, at least for me, looks much better and less subjective as there are more choices to choose/vote..
But how about the MS category? are we going to create another one? or are we going to use this thread instead?..
