Up-and-coming Womens Doubles from Japan: Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi . Perhaps what phil-mm and suetyan have posted is correct; that Misaki and her doubles partner Ayaka Takahashi could become the top WD pair for Japan in the near future. .
2010 China Open SS: Misaki Matsutomo with partner, Ayaka Takahashi, performed well . In Round 3 (Quarter-Finals), they will be facing a much stronger China's pair, Pan Pan/Qing Tian (Seeded No.5). Will this match last over an hour again? .
2010 China Open SS WS QF: Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi were defeated . Poor Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi, all their matches were over an hour long; In Round 1, they defeated China's Lu Lu/Bao Yixin, 21-19, 17-21, 21-18 in 67 minutes. In Round 2, they defeated China's Luo Yin/Luo Yu, 21-13, 19-21, 21-17 in 76 minutes. In Quarter-Finals, they lost to Pan Pan/Qing Tian, 10-21, 21-19, 18-21 in 65 minutes. .
Oh no, they are not poor things. What they have achieved this week is unprecented as of yet. As long as they maintain this standard of play, or improve, they will surely continue to do well .
Initially I had reservations as to Misaki's future as a singles player. 1.59m, to me, is a very nice height for a female, but not so ideal for a badminton player, especially in singles. But Ai Goto, at 1.52m, has shown much success. With good technique and lots of tenacity, she has managed to inch up to a position of 17 in the recent world rankings. I believe Misaki should learn to be a jumping machine like Ando Miki, the famous figure skater. Seriously. And like Wang Xin too. I had been puzzled why Wang Xin's style seems slightly different from the rest of the Chinese players. Then I realised that she jumps A LOT. Both Yip Pui Yin and Porntip jumpsmashes. But Wang Xin jumps all the time. Jumpdropshot and jumplob. I think that is giving her some advantage to compensate for her slight lack of stature. Firstly, taking the shuttle earlier and giving less time for the opponent to react. Also, not needing to take steps backwards and having to hit the shuttle harder and further. As well as getting a better angle to hit the shuttle downwards.
Ha ha, she has a really cute way of waiting for the shuttle. Here are some photos for the Misaki faithful, to celebrate their recent achievements, albeit slightly muted due to the loss of the closely fought match against the third Chinese pair. Some of them have already been posted in various threads, but this is the complete set of the Belgain International 2009. All credit to Jannemans for taking these wonderful photos. And please use thumbnails if you're going to post 17 pics in one post, especially at "original" size . (640 on the long side is large enough for forum use if you want to post directly without thumbnails) Jannemans is/was actually a bc member as well (Jan_BE I think it was) ...
What's the joke? Stop moving! The intimidating stare! Looking for the stars! LOL. Jumplob. Yay! Begging for a point?
LOL, don't know how to use the thumbnails. Tried to post the original version but it was too large. About 2MB each. So I had to download the large version again. At certain times of the day, BC doesn't seem to function well, as illustrated by the failed uploads earlier. I'm not surprised Jannemans is a BC member. He has so many badminton photos in his Flickr account. Hope he doesn't mind me putting his some of his photos here.
Yea, I suppose I'm suffering from Misaki-mania, LOL. suetyan and chris-ccc are struck by the fever too. And maybe jhirata. And there are those who watch but don't speak. I'm also a big fan of Reiko too. And a fan of some other Japanese players, a few Koreans, Lin Dan and some other Chinese players, and a Taiwanese. And a Thai. Inthanon Ratchanok has a far bigger fan base. I've become quite good at relocating photos, but ctjcad and suetyan are much faster at it. By the way, haven't seen you in this thread before. Have you decided to join the club too ? Takamatsu in PMO 2010. From scann.
i am now suffering from Japanese-mania. Out of topic for a while, I am following the World Junior Table Tennis Championship 2010, there is a girl called Morizono Misaki, is she your favourite too? haha..
