Finally had a chance to play with my SW35 today for the first time, and I have to say I had mixed results! I was using Bg66 @ 25 lbs, and the BP is 295mm with a thin overgrip (didn't measure the BP with the original grip) The racket seemed to be lacking in power when compared to my earlier AT700. The defense was much much better, so was the net game. But the racket feels more like a balanced weight racket rather than a head-heavy racket when compared to my AT700. No doubt, the racket was good, some of the smashes were amazing, but they were few and far between. Could you guys give me some tips as to how I can improve the power of the racket. I was thinking this was more of a smashers racket, but it turned out to be a good racket for an all-around game 1) I broke the strings on the very first day, so which strings should I go for now? I was thinking of Ashway Micropower or BG80. Would they lend me more power? 2) Tension - Should I go froward and reduce the tension to 22 lbs? Would tihs help improve power, I have read that the strings provide higher power at lower tensions, and higher control at higher tension. Earlier I always used to go with 22 lbs, only with the AT700, which I used only for a month, I was using 25 lbs. 3) To further increase the BP, I could go forward and remove the thin overgrip. But then the grip would be too thin, so not too sure! Help please!
Maybe all you need is more time to adjust your timing. Whereas the head heavier and flexier AT700 probably produces more boom from a slower strong swing, the more balanced stiffer SW35 may require a crisper snap for the power.
I was told that YY BG66 has more repulsion/generating more power than any YY strings (probably because of 0.66mm thinnest). On contrary, i also heard YY BG80 (which i supposed thicker string) brings greater satisfaction for power-players. I'm confused. Can somebody explain to me, out of this topic. thanks
BG66 - very repulsive BG80 - a bit less repulsive than BG66 but doesn't break so often BG66M - better repulsion than BG66, slightly less durable than BG80
BG66M is that mean Medium Feeling? I never seen BG66 Hard-feeling nor Soft-feeling around Asia market. At all time, sport shops just have BG66 medium feeling. I'd like to try Zymax62 as i prefer thinnest string. But probably last on my racket for a week or less... so kinda waste of money. Victor VS-850, i'd give it a try in couple more weeks. too bad it loses tension at fast rate.
I went for NBG98 @ 22 lbs, and the results were far better than the BG66 @ 25 lbs. I need to play more with the racket and need more time to adjust..But overall, a great racket nonetheless
There are a few variations of BG66. BG66 - 0.66mm (the regular all time favorite) BG66 Limited - 0.66mm (All England edition , plays slightly better than BG66) BG66 Sharp - 0.68mm (JP string , Loudest sound , repulsion better than BG66 Limited ) BG66 Maxima - 0.65mm (JP string , strongest repulsion of all) BG66 Ultimax - 0.65mm (based on specs , it's better than Maxima, there r a few reviews in the "BG66 Ultimax" thread) Strings are very personal , just like my friend went back to BG68Ti after he tried BG66 Maxima. hey i usually play at the back of the court and i always smash....i should get SW35 4U or 3U? my dad say 3U heavier so i should get 3U right?
bg68ti is a soft feeling string, may i know soft string would generate more power for ppl who have lesser strength from their arm? same theory to stiff and flex shaft...
Yes, 3U is more powerful, but I recommend that you try both versions out if possible before buying it. If you can't try out rackets then just get the 3U
I have weighed a 4U and 3U on the same scale. Both had original grip and both were strung (sorry, "not dry weight"). The 4U was 88g, the 3U was 90g. Not much different, but it might be a different story with two other rackets.
