    Hi everyone
I added some lead tape to my MX 60 yesterday, reaching a BP of about 315. I was wondering if that would not be too much and be a danger for my racquet who was not designed for this! Specially as the racquet is mid flex and a 4U. Perhaps the racquet will rapidly loose its stiffness? Do some of you guys have experience on this?
    Thanks

how many grams in total did you add?

if only 1-2g then should be fine, but if say 4-5g, then you'll be stressing the shaft prematurely

err... I managed to have my 3u/g2 mx60 set at 314 mm with the following methods:

    (1) remove the original grip, (2) have it strung at 27x29 lbs 4-knots, and (3) applying overgrip AC-143 (0.7mm) at 1/2 round.

No lead tape and continuous grommets applied.

just sharing my 2 cents :D

I transformed my 3U racket to a U racket by adding 7grams of weight at top top of the racket, it's stiffer than N50 and that's all i know for the stiffness level, 322+/-3 BP. I don't see any danger on my racket either.

Thanks everyone! I added about 5 grams to my racquet, and perhaps it is a bit to much. The thing is that i watched the pros' racquet with lead tape, such as Chen Long's, and the way it is done it must be between 5 and 10 grams (the whole upper part of the head is covered). But of course it is possible that the pros' racquet are a bit better.
thank you for your info Clawhammer, but I wonder how the tension on your string would change the BP?

That is what I heard, but I find it hard to beleive. Athletic tape is so light! To get two or three grams you would have to add quite a bit!

and to add 5 to 10g on the top of a racquet would mean a broken one

you can get yonex's tungsten strips, one strip 4.2 grams or so, long enough to cover a broad area on the head of the racquet
