I play regularly with nylon shuttle-cock(10hrs/week). I recently bought yonex voltric 5 raquet and i feel its time to change the string. I am an offensive player and i don't want to change the string regularly. So, durability and power are important factors. If i want a perfect string i would probably give durability: 3.5 power: 3.5 control:3 (on a total of 10). I have found Nanogy 98 the right fit just going through the numbers. What do you guys think? Thanks
Nanogy 98 wouldn't be a good choice, it's really thin, I think nanogy 99 (can be pricey) or BG 80 best suits you. I play both feather and plastic I strung my BG 80 to 26-27 lbs and for plastic 24-25 lbs. On my arcsaber z slashes.
Being thin does not necessarily mean poor durability. I have found BG80 and NBG98 have about the same durability. But BG80 does have THE hard feel which many offensive players love. NBG 98 is medium feel, but has more repulsion than BG80 so you may find it to your liking. As you value durability and power I would recommend NBG95. NBG99 can be a good choice as it is roughly textured and offers more control, but just not as powerful.
The "power" I refer to is about smash speed. Sure the NBG99 is more bouncy but if you have good swing, string both at high tension and fire several smashes. You will notice the difference.
From what you've mentioned, a high tension means mid to high twenties right? But i play with plastic birdies! And usually low twenties is recommended for the tension. So, which do you think is better now?
It certainly is a good control string, smashing is great but not as strong as my bg 80. The string also seems to thin out more ;0
