It has already been confirmed that Honda is going to replace its slow selling Accord Hybrid V6 with a new diesel powered Accord in 2009. The new engine will be based on Honda's 2.2L i-CTDi engine. Honda claims that the new Accord Diesel will be able to achieve over 60 mpg. A European Accord that was fitted with the 2.2L diesel was capable of achieving 62.8mpg. That means that the US version of the car should achieve around 52 mpg. The new engine will meet the new emissions standards in the US and will run as cleanly as regular gas engines. The diesel engine uses a catalytic converter that reduces the nitrogen oxide output by converting it to ammonia. The ammonia is then used to further neutralize the remaining NOx. --- it seem car makers are diesel craze now.
In fact, VW, BMW, and MB have or already have vehicles that they want to bring to North America. BMW Canada is looking at 2008 - 2009 to bring the 335 D to Canada. That 282 hp at 4,000 rpm and 428 lb-ft at just 1,750 rpm are juicy numbers.
Fourth Generation Common-Rail Diesel Injectors Can't wait for the 4th Generation Diesel Injectors to come to market next year.
Improving Diesel Engine Performance Passenger car diesel engine's torque drops off after 2,000 rpm or earlier. Is there a way to maintain torque all the way up to 4,000 rpm? From all the articles I read, diesel fuel doesn't burn fast enough at higher rpm. Gasoline and air mixture in petro engines are thoroughly mixed and hence combust quite thorough even at rpm.
Nitrogen Tire Inflation I really like COSTCO's tire department. It stores nitrogen to inflate passenger car tires. Nitrogen is a lot more stable than compressed air with or without moisture taken out.
I am not 100% sure but I think 4th gen diesel engine uses multi ports injection method to increase the torque at higher RPM. I thought AUDI has solve that issue withthe new R8 diesel. Another way to get around the RPM issue is to have more cylinders.
But even 3rd generation common-rail diesel has multi-hole (ports if you want to call them) per injector.
Maybe even high injector pressure is called for. 30,000 psi is not enough. How about 60,000 psi and a plasma device/plug ?
Are you very particular about maintaining tire pressure? http://ezinearticles.com/?Tire-Valv...hat-Do-You-Need-To-Know-About-Them?&id=396668 http://www.avanigroup.com/
Anyone knows which car(s) has pollen and airfilter for just air ventilation into the passenger compartment (no air con)?
almost all the new VW's have pollen filters for the passenger compartment. the only ones that don't are the City models.
Yes, many Japanese diesel engines use it. Not gas engine. I forgot the reason for not using it for gas engine.
MPG range of your car Everybody who drives, please state your range of fuel consumption in mpg or km/l or l/100 km from worst to best. Specify the speed and season also. Thanks!
Alloy wheel problem Do your average alloy wheels supplied by the manufacturer get porosites in them? Porosites allow air to leak out of the alloy wheels.
