Why is there so little use of sweatbands in badminton? You barely can watch a professional player using one. Any reason?
You mean for the head right? The only professional player I know is Carsten Mogensen. Koo Kien Keat once also used one, but I don't think he wears it anymore. All the other players just have short hair in the first place so they don't need one or they use hair products to style their hair upwards like Lin Dan used to do. XD Oh und hallo aus Deutschland!
Oh I see, well Taufik is wearing one in every match nowadays, since last year. I have his (red and yellow ones) too, you can see here in my thread. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...Got-my-Yonex-LTP-1000-TH-shirt-fitting-shorts!
I just got the shirt and shorts yesterday. Yellow sweatbands bought at German Open 2011 Semi Finals day. :3 Oh and by god no, best result I had was under best 16 of...well you're german so...Norddeutsche Rangliste in 2007. XD Well that's it for a long time now that I purchase something for badminton. I want to buy a new racket but only sometime next year, either an Arcsaber Z-Slash Taufik Hidayat edition or an Arcsaber 700, but that's a long time away. XD
the headband while prevents sweat from dripping down, also prevents heat from dissipating. in a closed stadium with no wind, it is going to be really unbearable.
I see, but still, it often looks ridiculous watching players wiping their sweat off with their hands...
Well you can always ask your opponent to towel down. Don't know on which level you play (I'm not a pro as I said :3) when I ask someone they almost always oblige, or I just use my sweatband or t-shirt. On higher levels it gets more difficult cause there are umpires for every match and they won't allow such a thing all the time when there is also the interval at 11 points.
Well, I'm just looking for a solution to prevent sweat dripping into my eyes after a few intense ralleys. When I go for the towel on the side of the court, it might be too late already!
Well then I guess wristbands or headbands are your only choice, I enjoy playing with wristbands really much, have been playing with them for a few month now. Playing with them feels a little different too, kinda like I have more power behind my arm when I hit the shuttle, maybe cause they make my arm just a little heavier.
That's a totally fascinating new aspect! Forget about the head heavy rackets, use a sweat soaking wristband! What about putting some weights around the wrist additionally?! lol
I never said they're soaking. Well what do you want to do then? Wrap your arms, legs and the top of your head into towels?
i use wrist band regularly now. mainly because they stop the sweat from flowing down to the hands. it works extremely well. however, the only effect i see is that i can grip the racket better. i do not any increase in power due to the weight.
They also call me the "Mummy" from now on! I was just joking about your theory of having more power because of the wristband! Of course you're right suggesting a wristband as the way to go!
Don't worry, I know. @kwun: Of course it's not that much, but I certainly feel a difference while playing when I suddenly have a wristband around my...wrist. XD
Come one guys don't make fun of it. I just said it felt a little different and maybe a bit harder, but not that much. And I can use every improvement on my smash that I can get cause it isn't very hard at all. I can just place it quite good I think that's everything.
