i knew this was coming and its not good,

looks like the president is asking the committee to swallow the pill :D

restructure the program again or work harder to find more sponsors.

alternatively, those council members can always say, we give a try …

then if cannot, wash hand and quit:D

what a mess its going to be:eek:

I have a feeling that BAM will NOT kowtow to Misbun's change requests, and most likely will accept his resignation if he sticks to his toes. But I really wish Misbun will stay back to at least London 2012 for the sake of country... boleh?

Nadzmi jumps to defence of coaching and training committee

KUALA LUMPUR : Badminton Association of Malaysia ( BAM ) president Datuk Seri Nadzmi Mohd Salleh has sprung to the defence of their coaching and training committee yesterday .

Nadzmi said that changes were imminent if Malaysian badminton were to move forward.

National coach Misbun Sidek has been unhappy with some of the decisions made by the coaching and training committee , headed by Ng Chin Chai, in September .

He was also hurt by some of the remarks made by the committee members .
Nadzmi said that the majority of people had accepted the changes made by the committee , which were aimed at strenghtening their programme.

Among the changes were dividing the training set - up into three squads – elite, elite back- up and juniors .

Every player in each group is carefully selected based on his or her maturity and potential .

“ The changes were made based on our Thomas Cup Finals post mortem. ( Malaysia were whipped 0 - 3 by China in the semi - finals) We do not want to make the same mistakes. Changes were made so that we do not have to depend on one or two talents in the future,” he said .

“ We have to respect our own system. We have to see it in the bigger context . The changes are made so that we will have a wider pool of players .

“ The majority of the coaches have agreed and no one has shown any dissension . But, like any other organisation, there may be one or two who may be unable to accept the changes .

“ The council have endorsed the changes made by the committee and we are going to stick to it to ensure a better future. ”

Honestly, Datok Nazmi has got some good points there, and I agree with him. Let me say this to Misbun "For things to change, we must change first"... Just accept the re-org in BAM and focus on LCW for London 2012 glory... boleh tak?

Being a boss, sometimes U have to make tough decisions for the sake of your organization. Along the road, they will be some grudges so the boss must learn how to handle these "noises". IMHO, if the committees and councils + coaches came to the consensus of these changes, I think it's wise for Misbun to put national interest above everything else. London 2012 is only one year away, and at this crucial stage, the OG GOLD (from LCW) should be the top priority... BOLEH?

We are doing the same thing over and over again. These jokers in the coaching commitee have done nothing except add extra 'redundant managers' and rebadged an old car.

Primary school, secondary and then tertiary levels....

these guys are not children. They are all adults regardless age 18 or 29. What should separate them is the potential to grow and level they already have attained.

another drawback of this system is that coaches at mid and bottom will feel like feeder squad heads. how do they take pride in their work if their students will be taken away if they 'progress' to the next stage?

    I propose a 'Drafting system'
Coaches take turn to choose their students from the complete pool. and thus every one will have their choice of mix from currently on form and some for development.

After a year, performances are reviewed and the coaches gets the points on their own pool of player performances... which they can use to their advantage in the next Draft and perhaps player trading between coaches.

BAM is smarter than what many BCers think. Their position is not surprising and is in fact well considered having in mind the national interest of the game in the long term. There will be no Prima Donas at the expense of the national interest.
Now it is up to the nation to judge which side is truly working for the national interest, because if they go their separate way only one side can be right.
In my opinion I think MS has got himself into a sink hole, the result of an ill-considered emotional display of a coach losing control of his feelings.

May be you all want this to happen in Malaysia...???

    ============================================================================================
Six Singaporean shuttlers quit, say squeezed out

SINGAPORE: Six badminton players have quit Singapores national squad a year before the London Olympics, saying they have been squeezed out and left with no choice.

The players had been members of the city-state’s national development team recently dissolved by the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA) as part of restructuring.

The SBA said its decision to dissolve “Team 2” had been based on an annual performance evaluation.

I think its a little unfair because I started centralised training only a year ago,” Toh Siew Fen told Singapores Straits Times newspaper. “Its too little time for us to catch up to the standards of Team 1.

In its place, the SBA will form the National Intermediate Squad next month for up and coming players.

A few Team 2 shuttlers have been invited to join the new squad, but will no longer be given a monthly allowance or opportunities to compete in overseas tournaments.

Its as good as having no option,” said Eugene Sng, 21. “They are forcing me out. But they dont want to look bad, so on the surface, I have a choice.” — Reuters

Frankly, I think the other officials of the BAM Executive Committee and the members of the Training & Coaching Committee are not as dumb as some BCers here like others to think. Please, smart people don't get to where they are and stay there long enough if they are dumb or yes men.
In fact I am beginning to think that some of the personal attacks on the BAM president is without basis and is more a reflection of the writers' own personal prejudice.

dumb and smart people do mixed around

and we sure don't know who when it comes to a committee decision :D

let me ask you this since at the end of this, its the interest of the nation at stake :)

    given the latest situation,

do you think bam should work together by hook or by crook with misbun to get lcw ready for london 12?

altering the program a little until london 12 is going to kill malaysia badminton?

please give your feedback on this :)

    LCW's badminton journey

I thought the talented LCW has had many coaches who have helped to develop him into a great player he is today, not just MS alone.

Credit must be given to the coaches involved in his formative years when he first started badminton to the years when he was inducted into the National Team. And to all those who helped to develop his physical fitness and mental strength and the sports science specialists.

Surely MS cannot do all these alone.

I do not know LCW's teenage badminton background but I do read that great players like Frost, maybe Han Jian (?), Mulyadi (?) and of course Li Mao (perhaps better known for his coaching than for his playing) and perhaps some others were somehow instrumental in moulding LCW and I'm sure MS must have also benefitted from learning from these coaches indirectly.

Especially Li Mao, who was once known to be a 'father figure' to LCW, like "The Thing" is to LD, until the BAM made it unbearable for LM to continue and he then chose to 'migrate' to KOR hurriedly and unexpectedly. Now we hear he moves on to INA. LCW would have been a ideal candidate for LM to take revenge on the poor treatment he purportedly received from LYB as LCW has the ingredients to match against LD.

But though ranked WR1, LCW finds LD his toughest opponent and on a "head-to-head" count, he still lost to LD. Until the day that LCW overhauls LD, he cannot claim to be the world's current best.

MS comes closest to Li Mao as LCW's confidant. LCW has less than two years to win his biggest prize during London Olympics 2012, quite naturally he would prefer no disruption to his training schedule and MS is the best person to help him achieve it. If MS' "strategy" against BAM falls apart, LCW will probably bear the brunt of it and his Olympic dream may well fizzle out. Remember LCW has not shown to be particularly strong mentally in the badminton court.

But the BIG question is "can MS do it?" with his current coaching methods. With LD around LCW will face his greatest stumbling block. CHN has more resources and can counter the MS/LCW combination strategy without too much difficulty. And while everyone is focussed on LCW and LD, London could spring a shocking surprise too!

There are other younger singles aspirants to the Olympic crown. Don't discount other CHN players and those from powerhouses like DEN, INA, KOR, JPN, THA and even TPE. Glory be to the country that wins the gold medal! :)

As though this is not a big headache enough MS and BAM made it a bigger one which can detract from preparations for London Olympics 2012.

Which reminds me: I should make it a point to visit London then, bar the cold and the snow. And perhaps other BCers should make the trip too. :D

If U ask me, I'd say it should be the other way round. Misbun should work closely with BAM...

Without Misbun, why u think it will jeopardize our chances of winning the GOLD in London 2010? It's clear that LCW will represent MAS, with or without Misbun. The question now is, "IF" without Misbun, will it distract LCW's preparation and training? I really don't know about that...

i agree with taneepak except for the part where MS has dug himself a hole... He has already said he will retire if his services are no longer relevant. Which does not sound like a desperate man to me. As a bystander looking at the whole saga, MS actions seems a logical result of years of pent up emotions, hitting brickwalls and having had enough. As far as i can see, there was no hidden agenda.

    btw. i am not rajes
