Seeing live in action at WC05, I would say LD jump smash is one of a kind, just like floating, leg curl up and smash with power and accuracy, and my opinion is the best I have seen...recently LD does not jump as much as he used to before...and he dive less too...before LD jump smash and dive with frequency...is he 'old' or avoid injured to save for OLY?? hymmmm.

No doubt: King smash! Liem Swie King!

Maybe Fu Haifeng hits harder [km/hour] now, but hey, give him a wooden racket and we'll see...

With 33Xkm/h speed of the smash......he can use anything, even a tennis racket.....maybe faster than Andy Ruddick...

Totally agree with your comment.....no body can replicate Sigit...not even Rexy.......He has the best jumping smash.....and look at the angle of his shot..when he is in the air...awesome......

Liem Swie King...is the next one....and followed by heryanto arby..

    Viva Djarum....

:confused:Guys Guys! Are we forgetting someone who won AE 8 times? RUDY HARTONO!!!!:D He has the most powerful smash during his time and they called it the 'Pile Driver Smash'!!!

For Backhand smashing, i think no one comes close to Flemming Delfs. His backhand smash was recorded in the Guinness world of records.

Heard that it is liem swuie king who created jump smash.Rudy n liem r both powerful for the men's single of their era.For the more current,MD's Halim haryanto n fu hai feng for the power, while Sigit for the angle,n for MS,Taufik on the past, for the smash,n LD for the style.

Haha..terminator?Well..i agree that fu's got the strongest, heaviest smash among the players, since he was used to play as a single while he's in the junior, before he decided to play doubles. But i think fu's smash is no longer scarying the opponents,at least not as scary as it used to be.Maybe they have used to it,or the opponents r more prepared then.

I am with you where Halim Haryanto is one of the best jump smashes... In fact, for me his smashes looks even more scary than fu's as it has speed, power and angled shot and a whole lot of wrist action! but I wonder how not many notice him....
if you guys need evidence, check out mens doubles final world championships 2001 where tony & halim whipped Kim dong moon and ha tae kwon 15-0, in the first set. And at the time, many people were talking about Kim dong moon as the best badminton player ever...
