GVS talks big about how they aim to reach the semis, even with KKK/TBH waiting in the second round... I say they might not even make it past the first round...

[h=2]FORMER national shuttlers Razif Abdul Latif and Vountus Indra Mawan were deemed to lack talent and were subsequently dropped by the BA of Malaysia (BAM).[/h] But the personal touch of former national doubles specialist Razif Sidek helped Razif-Vountus silence their critics in the Maybank Malaysian Open at Putra Stadium yesterday.
Despite sparring only once before the tournament, Razif-Vountus were flawless in their wins over full-time pairs to reach the main draw.
"We trained only once under Razif (Sidek) on Sunday and today (yesterday), we have made the main draw," said Vountus yesterday.
"I felt angry and disappointed when BAM told me to leave the national team. According to my then coach, I was not getting the results and lacked talent.
"I thank coach Razif for giving me the motivation to carry on. He told me that I was talented. It was the sweetest thing I've heard from a coach.
"Training is so rigid in the national team... you just go through the drills and go home. Furthermore, the coaches do not motivate you."
Razif-Vountus notched their first career win when they beat Singapore's Terry Yeo-Yi Sin Liu 21-17, 21-12 in the first round of qualifiers.
However, their win in the second round was more fulfilling as they defeated a national pair, powering past Lufti Zaim Abdul Khalid-Teo Kok Siang 21-18, 21-15 to set up a first round match against Indonesia's Mohamad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan today.
Razif was told to leave in 2010 while Vountus got the same treatment four months ago.
"It (the wins) shows we are talented. BAM has got it wrong. I feel sorry for Lufti-Kok Siang because they are full-time players.
"What can I say about the wins today? I think it was the motivation to prove a point," said 24-year-old Vountus.
The Razif-Vountus partnership, however, could be short-term.
"We are still undecided due to sponsorship. If we can raise funds then probably we will carry on playing," Vountus added.
Razif, a mixed doubles specialist, however, only trains once a day due to work commitment. The 28-year-old is a Public Service Commission employee.
"It is tough making time for training but I am doing it willingly because I love this sport.
"I felt I was not giving enough time to make the grade as a national shuttler. I will continue as long I can," said Razif.

Cos they are MD and dont have their own thread. So that people who read it will know what happen to Msia MD players. The other place to post would be 'Is BAM going right direction' thread, which is more for management news.

Also TKH mention that they will move up to 21st in the ranking if they reach QF, now reach SF maybe even higher

Long way to go for GVS/LKW

They have more potential than HTH/TWK who seems to have reached the height of the potential
But do they have the consistency?
Also, from what I seen this week and last week I don't think they will ever be a top 5 pair, unfortunately. Best they can do would be a Fang/Lee (Taipei)

I would love to see you play, undeadshot. Limsy, let's organise a badminton central gathering and friendly match this coming May for sudirman cup. I want to play with undeadshot, maybe he can teach me a thing or two about how to be a good player :p.
