there's many China old legend player was from Indonesia like Hou Jia Chang, Chen Yu Niang, etc.Hou Jia Chang was born at Semarang Indonesia, but then he back to China...He was badminton legend...
Practically all of the old legends are from Indonesia... The first generation players such as Liang Chiuxia, Tang Xianhu, Fang Kaixiang [born in Pekalongan]... are all overseas Chinese born in Indonesia... I don't know about Wang Wenjiao... I suspect he is from Indonesia as well...
The shorts these players wore, if we wear them today, that would look obscene and exposed too much for the ladies...hahaha!! Cooler you may want to try one on court one of this day...hahaha!!

Wonder why Tang Hsien Hu was called "the Thing"? Before his departure for China, Tang was known in Indonesia as Thing Hien Hiow. He was the most promising of all the Indonesian MS juniors in the late 50s and would have been Indonesia's top player in the 60s and 70s. Just think of Indonesia with Tang, Hou, Fang, Rudy, Mulyadi what a power pack team. In fact thanks to the Indonesian players and some coaches who were kicked out of Indonesia because of ethnic politics (no fault to the players whose fathers' weren't born in Indonesia), China's Badminton took off to become a pwer house today. Although the structure of unearthing talents and systematic training from young age was a communist innovation, the Indonesian coaches and players in the 60s and 70s help the next generation of Chinese players in tactics, strategies and playing style.
