hahhaha Let me know if you like to see other videos. Hey Mark - would you be able to share a quick capture of where the side supports mount on your racquet? I did see your post about the 12th and 15th grommets (bottom/top or top/bottom depending on pattern) as well as the video by Alan on stringing but would like to check out what you are doing for your supports. I'm using the Haribito pattern and mounting the sides at 2 grommets below/above the top and bottom shared grommets. I found it seems to work alright but at higher tensions, not sure if that is sufficient. Thoughts?
I'll take a picture tomorrow morning for you. My pattern is always the same: two-piece, top-down, Yonex standard,
Thanks Mark! Just curious why there are so many variations to the stringing patterns (i.e. top down, bottom up) - I have an idea of what it does to the racquet in terms of the stress being added to the frame but not entirely sure what difference it makes.
Also - couple things you want to consider: Arm mounts all move individually - makes it a little more difficult to mount racquet as there could be some inconsistencies with how far each arm is moved to touch the racquet. Load spreader - I would recommend getting one for the 12 o'clock Clamps base - the base clamps on these ones are terrible. Makes it very difficult to work with. I would upgrade them to a "easy" lock and unlock type. I forgot what they are called but Kwun has them in his badminton stringing videos on youtube (look up badminton central on youtube). Clamps - make sure the clamps are designed for badminton. Typically the machines come with a tennis specific clamp but perhaps Gamma has changed their clamps to the "universal" ones. I remember having to purchase those separately. Aside from those main points, I think it should be alright.
What Machine are you talking about ? Also, the base clamps are called Switch Action Cam Lock Clamp Base.
This pic shows exactly where my supports come in: As close as possible to, but outside, the outermost shared holes at the bottom first and foremost. At the top, they come in just under the last top shared hole on Z-pattern rackets, a couple of holes below that on the "3+2" rackets, and four or five holes below on the standard pattern.
Ah - the videos have "deprivated" now. Ye gods - that tensioner is quiet! I've heard it runs on two rails inside - can you confirm?
Was told not to pop it open as it voids warranty. Tensioner is decent in terms of noise level - much quieter than the WISE2086.
You realize we're going to want a filmed stringjob on this thing.... I seem to recall seeing two worm gears down in the slots - most likely a double chuck system.
What angle do you want to see the stringing? Got any examples of what angle you like to see the stringing? (i.e. behind the stringer, in front, side, etc)
So I'm directing? I think Alan had it right with this video - bang in front of the stringer. I'd love some money shots of the touchscreen and menu, but the stringer does rather get in the way from that angle.
I can get a video of the screen itself during the stringing if you like Or just go through the menu options etc.
Niiiiice. Puller seems a bit slow compared to the old ES5 - did you dial the speed back for the video?
I set the pull to the slowest setting to allow for max stretch... I did slow down the video in different places so you could see slow-mos of the tensioner.
