    The current results are:

    less than 2 weeks. = 91 (6.18%)

    2 weeks - 1 month = 214 (14.54%)

    1-2 months = 278 (18.89%)

    2-3 months = 258 (17.53%)

    3-6 months = 257 (17.46%)

    more than 6 months = 374 (25.41%)

Talking to a friend about these results, she thought that with clearly the highest number of votes for the category "more than 6 months" it must be the most common lifespan for strings. And on the face of it, some may be led to think that at first glance.

However in correcting her I said, if we read it another way, it means that for every 100 people surveyed, only 25 said their strings lasted >6months and 75 said their strings lasted <6months!

there's no such thing as a "common lifespan".

lifespan of strings heavily depends on 3 things:
type of string, tension, level/style of play.

    Yes, we know that!

But refering to this poll, when I said "common" I was alluding to the category that had the most votes.

Since I switched to BG80 and VS850 I can't actually remember breaking a string so far. I just end up cutting them once they fray too much. Other strings like BG66UM and ZM65 lasted a few months for me.

Funny thing is that my coach used one of my VS850 and broke it in 4 days, although 3-4 days is standard for him. I've seen him break strings during training and it's always around the sweet spot. He did string my racquets at the same tension as his...so I guess he just hits harder a lot more consistently

Edit: just remembered that he showed me his broken BS09 recently, snapped at the top of the handle from a smash

I have been playing almost exclusively with NBG-98 - my string life is around 2 months or so, and play 5 times a week or so, sometimes more. String is strung at 22/24 lbs. My son hits a lot harder and he will get about 6 weeks but plays only 2-3 times a week. My wife plays 1-2 times a week and her racquet lasts about 11 months or so, although I sometimes use her racquet for doubles. The strings will start to fray, but still lasts a few weeks before snapping.

I play badminton 5 times a week, 2 hours per session. My Arc Z Slash was strung with BG66U and only lasted for 2 weeks. After that, I changed to Nanogy 95 and it lasted for 7 weeks- yesterday it snapped. Now I change to Nanogy 99, and we'll see how long it will last.

I'm pretty surprised that so many people play their strings for over 2 months, I mean this is almost 60%...

    BG80, 31lbs.
3 weeks up to today, a lot of fraying. (probably won't survive the week.)

    6-8 hours a week.

    weak smasher (fwiw).

i've since replaced the bg65 because tension lost is too great and didn't stop at all, now i've been playing with Ashaway PowerGut65 on my nanoray300, BLX Recon, and BLX Vertex.

i also have bg70 on a dunlop biometics and it still crisp :)
