Received this email from MSAC; =============================================== Hi Chris, All badminton courts will be unavailable from Sat 7th Dec until Friday 13th Dec inclusive as we are once again hosting the Annual Australian Schools Volleyball Tournament. Badminton will be set up ready to go again from Saturday 14th Dec. ============================================== This means that our CATS on Sunday 08-Dec-2013 will not be held at MSAC. In some of previous years, when MSAC courts were unavailable, we organised to book courts elsewhere for our session. If trainees are interested, do let us know. Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 01-Dec-2013 (A Short Report) . Here is a short report for our Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 01-Dec-2013. We thank trainees for removing themselves from our 'Booking List' when unable to attend; therefore opening up vacancies for new trainees wishing to join us. Mohamed-S (from our Wednesday Night CCC Social Games session) 2. David-B (via email contact) Hope that they had enjoyed our CATS. For this CATS, on a warm day, we were planning to work on strokes and footwork requiring gentler action - the "Doubles Low Service" and the "Netplay". But, Mohamed-S requested for doing "Footwork"; and we changed our program to meet his needs. However, I instructed trainees to begin ALL their drills with these 2 strokes :- (1) The "Low Service", and (2) The "Net Return" and then, continue with the other strokes of their set drills. For our newer trainees, they might not know that our CCC CATS conducts a program which takes around half-a-year to complete. This is to cover all topics mentioned in Post #1, namely; CCC Coaching Program (20 Chapters) 1 Footwork – Backward (with OH Clear) 2 Footwork – Forward (with Bounce) 3 Services – Singles & Doubles (with UA Clear) 4 OH Dropshot – (reply with Bounce) 5 Smash – (reply with Block) 6 OH Clear – (Defensive Clear) 7 Dab – (for Doubles) 8 Drive – (for Doubles) 9 Pushshot – (for Doubles) 10 Netplay – (Bounce/Tumble/Spin) 11 Netplay – (Tap/Swipe) 12 Attacking Clear – (with 3-steps Footwork) 13 Holding the Shot – (with Deceptions) 14 Level Doubles – (Players' Positions) 15 Level Doubles – (Court Zones) 16 Level Doubles – (Match Tactics) 17 Mixed Doubles – (Players' Positions & Court Zones) 18 Mixed Doubles – (Match Tactics) 19 Singles – (Court Zones & Match Tactics) 20 OH Backhand Dropshot & Clear Some points to remember when training on "Footwork" : * Count your "Transfer of weight" taken, not your steps taken. * We are working on "efficiency of movements", not just on the "order of steps". * Each "Transfer of weight" movement takes time. You could have taken some movements, without even taking any steps. We want to eliminate these "unnecessary movements". * If requiring to move your left foot first, your weight should be on your right foot (and vice versa). * etc, etc, ...... If trainees are still not understanding the lesson taught, please ask me questions next session (to give you info/demo that you require). Comments on our 7 attending trainees: * Chong-S needs to count her movements after each stroke. Most time she is not returning to her "Base" after hitting her shot. * Mario-P needs to have faster movements. More alert training is required. * Timothy-T's forward movements are excellent. Backward movements are OK. It's time to work on more side-ward movements (especially to execute his "Side Drives"). * Janice-S needs more work for her backward movements. * Owen-L needs more work for all his movements. Perhaps, he is not doing the counting (as taught); and therefore he is unable to move efficiently. * Mohamed-S, being new, has much to learn. He now knows there is so much to learn in order to play 'better' Badminton. * David-B, being new too, is doing OK for his first lesson. Well Done.
