That strip are the grommets. So called tungsten infused, that's where they put the head mass, I suppose. Gonna be a pain to replace when worn out though.

Oh i see it. It's like one of those weight strips but in this case, its the grommet. Smart. You're probably right, its gonna be hard to put in

I almost get the feeling the new grommets are just a further cash cow scheme for Yonex. I hope they're cheap to replace.

The grommets cost 525 yen which even though it is not expensive, is still an additional expense as I believe that stringer will not keep stock of it.

So including VAT, postage etc, we're probably looking at around £5-6 extra for something that should cost pennies.

The new grommets look tough...some kind of metal...not plastic...btw...i have not change a single grommmet of my VTZF...but my racquect finally broke after exactly 2 mths plus...it wouldnt have broken easily if i wouldnt have been swingung the racket at home n hit a swinging fan

Aw man, that grommet design is really disappointing. I thought they had designed something specifically to completely smooth out the head so that the strings 'disappear' into the frame. :(

They do don't they? I was under the impression that from the front, once strung, you cannot see the strings.
