Any lower and you're asking for a sore back

    .
    You are correct. :):):)

If ever we get a sore back after stringing a racket, the height of the machine must be too low. That's why I suggested to kwun to raise his machine higher than normal (just because he is a taller person).

When I had my Eagnas Flex 940, the maximum string bed height was like 42", 2 inches below my current normal height of 44". Given that the stand base is now directly mounted to the tension rail. It would be lower than a normal machine because the legs of the ASE are no longer used.

    interesting.

so with my setup now, the string bed is around 1 inch higher than elbow height. so there is hope that it is ok.

but i also that before when i sat down with the machine on a small table, the height is higher. probably 3-4 inches higher.

will report back when i get a chance to use it, which should be this weekend. order a ton of strings and will be going into full stringing mode.

Kwun, when did you buy your Wise 2086 Pro? I just noticed it's missing the gripper trigger.

I guess another comfortable position would be sitting on a stool, while stringing.

I got mine a few months after they upgraded the gripper switch, I think it was October 2010.

I seen some older model with a rigged switch. Did you get the foot switch with your unit?

yes. i have a footpedal. never used it though. maybe now i will with me standing up.

just bounced a mail to WISE to see if the switch can be retrofitted. considered doing it myself but seems to be neater if can get the original parts.

If you have the new switch you will not be able to use the pedal switch.

If you can fins a 1/8th" mono headphone jack splitter you can use both, but if you have the gripper trigger you don't need the foot switch.

strung 2 rackets using the new stand. the height is ok. but i think sometimes i do tend to crouch down a little when i am doing cross weaves.

and i also used the footpedal since i can move around. seems to work OK.

Herb says the parts to add the switch is $60, which includes new side plates for the gripper and the switch itself. the side plates has holes which the screw going into to attach the switch.

Did you have to send your unit in or is he letting you DIY?

he says the parts is $60 and i can just swap it out myself. only need to disassemble the gripper. no need to open up the machine to change any parts.

$60 is slightly steep. i am leaning towards DIYing a switch myself.

if I'm not mistaken, that cost for a complete unit of new gripper, since it has 4 holes to mount the switch, but if you have the foot-pedal why bother to buy the new switch ?

    because i was too spoiled by using SynergyBadminton's ES5Pro and ES5Protech! :(

the pedal is ok. but not as seamless a operation as the switch right at the gripper.

Just out of curiosity, I just ordered a wise and also the foot pedal, does that mean it still has the gripper switch?

all current production WISE should have the gripper switch. not sure how it would connect though.

I just want to make sure that I can try both methods and choose the better one, don't want to give up the gripper switch to have the foot pedal.
