Good memory! I used to play table tennis just behind the viewing area on the first floor.

    blimey!!...from the photos, it's definitely a multi-purpose hall!! :eek::cool:
Yes, please go ahead and reserve that time slot for £126, whether more than 30 people or less than 30 people will join.
For the shuttles, we'll wait and see what we can come up with (i may transport a few tubes from here so will save on the cost). We'll put the £74 for the shuttles as the last option. Let me know if the shuttles cost has to be part of the £200 reservation..
    We're set..Thanks again, R20190!
Sir Mark, if you have time, could you take photos of the club where you'll host the "badminton party"?..thx.

How come you haven't won it yet then? :D

Good pic. I played that final match on the right hand side, far 2nd court. Went to three sets on the old scoring system. We'd actually met our opponents in the initial group match. They were both taller and stockier than both of us. When we walked on court, one of the opponents said "OK, come on kids.."! I guess I did look really young those days and my partner was as thin as a rake.:D. My partner and I just looked at each other thinking ...... LOL... That opponent was much more respectful after he lost the initial group match.

Ahhh, wish I was joining you guys...!!

Even thought you are older.... don't be cheeky!!
Our team isn't strong enough... for the past 2 years, we have been 9th but this year as we lost to many matches we were 25th this year :(

I'd like to join the London meet up but it really depends which day and time if I can make it. I don't live too far away from the Harrow sports centre and I regularly play there too.

Some other places that I play at are Queensmead Sports Centre in South Ruislip (need a membership and can only book 1 week in advance), Queen Mother Sports Centre in Victoria (not sure of booking process) and Finsbury Leisure Centre in Old Street (can book without membership 5 days in advance vs 7 days with membership, but for peak hours they go fast). But you could always call them up and see if they can sort something out for you.

Edit: Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex in Uxbridge is a new sports centre that isn't bad, although it might be a bit far out for most people.

    Welcome on board, ant01!..
Appreciate in providing those additional sources, but we're still "technically" open to those places you mentioned above.
If you have the time, please provide us with more infos (e.g. such as how far away from Wembley area, total price to reserve the place) and confirmation of those 5 venues, as soon as you can. As well as take photos..
Our planned time will be from 4 pm onwards for 3 hrs, Saturday Aug. 4th.

UPDATE: London Olympics BC Meet - Venue has been booked!

Venue: Harrow Leisure Centre, Christchurch Avenue, Harrow, Middlesex, HA3 5BD
    Telephone: 020 8901 5980
    Time: 17:00-20:00, Saturday 4th August 2012
    Courts: Arena 1, Courts 1 - 4
    Website: http://www.better.org.uk/leisure/harrow-leisure-centre/

This is a provisional booking subject to payment.

ctjcad, I have advised Harrow that you will be making payment for the courts shortly after you arrive in the UK. I will pass on the details later, total cost is £126 (all inclusive).

Can I suggest that we draw a list of those that are definitely attending the London meet so we can keep track of the numbers?

I have a friend (possibly 2) who may be interested in coming a long, they're not members of this forum though.

Don't worry you're not the only one! ;) Besides, it's just a friendly get together, it's not the All England! lol

So it took a few weeks, but the decision is now finally made for me to be in London. Since I'm a Games Maker at Wembley Arena, the next few weeks will be quite busy. However, August 4 shouldn't be a problem. My shift ends at 17:00, so will see you guys at Harrow. Not sure how I'm going to play badminton as we're not allowed to bring anything besides our kit bag into the Arena, but just meeting up will be plenty good!

Chris, you're now allowed to officially get rid of the question mark behind my name ;)
James, I've sent you a PM about the shirt a while ago, hope that's okay.

I do hope some of you could help me out with something... since staying in London at a hotel or even a hostel as a Games Maker (I'm from outside the UK) for two/three weeks would be immensely pricey and undoable for a university student like myself: does anyone know anyone (or maybe yourself) who could offer me a couch to bunk on? I don't mind moving around, so if you can only have me for a short while I'll already be extremely thankful. Please let me know!

See you all in London! Old friends, new friends, it's going to be incredible!
