So when is it going to be open?

I wanna book a court soon. It'll save me 20 minutes of driving time to get there and 20 mins to get home. Which means more time to play badminton. ;)

Any thoughts of opening Badminton Burnaby (North)? Pretty please?? Maybe near SFU?? It'll make my commute a mere 5-10min. :D

Sorry if someone already posted this as I'm a bit busy right now,. so you can put a board where people sign their name every period. so if there's 4 people want to play, they are more than welcome to sign their name when there's a spot on the board. so, like mentioned above, you supervise by : rolling per game, or every like 15 min or so .. if you prohibit a group of 4 to play together .. i can definitely tell, it's a ridiculous system..
a)say, you have 10 courts, and drop in starts at 8PM. people have to line up to get their name written down ,, as soon as they are registered on the board, they can access the court immediately to warm up and play. the session goes on and on, you erase the court that has finished playing and people can come to sign their name on the board again, etc. in case there are 5 people lining up, the first person only by him/herself, and you put his/her name on the board. then comes a group of 4 people. they want to play within their own group, but only one court available and you already have that lone wolf's name signed up. so that 4 people have to wait for next available court while you're still taking name to fill up that court that has the first person's name on it.

b)starts at 8, people line up, 10 courts filled up, start playing. 15 minutes. re-roll the session. people line up again to register their name for the next 15-min session. etc.

i hope im making a bit of sense, im kinda terrible at explaining.

Its been a while since I've had time to post in here. I actually live in Burnaby North and would have loved to open there, sadly, due to the zoning bylaws in Burnaby, its very unlikely that will happen

thanks Salz, the most important feedback I gained from the suggestions is that drop in needs to be supervised and organized.

Nice to see some progress on the facility after a long stretch of silence. Lots of rumors have cropped up in the meantime. Will you be honoring the free drop-in for the lucky 50 players?

    Hi Cappy,

Rumours? What rumours? I love badminton gossip!! Do tell!

As for the lucky winners, it will be honored of course! If not, its because I'm topping it with something much more superb! You have my word.

^^ Nice. Especially the use of baffles to reduce glare and bird distraction from adjacent courts. :)

The team running the pro shop should be moving in, in the next few days. Some of you may already be familiar with their work. Its Brandon and his team from "All Court Stringing"

There's going to be plenty of other exciting stuff during the grand opening. I can't predict the future, but there's a good chance of meeting Anna at Badminton Vancouver in the future :D

The premier 50 contest event was a great success, was so great to meet some BCers. I would truly appreciate some of your feedback on what you liked and what you think needed improvement. We're are always working to make your badminton experience top notch and your feedback really does help with that. Anyways, I hope all you contest winners had a great time and I do look forward to seeing you in the near future.

    sincerely,

    Derrick
