If you look at it at an angle - which you do most of the time you're playing...... Anyway, this is what 'conceptualisation' is. Trying wacky stuff.
I think I might put a poll up on Facebook at some stage, but it probably be just before I commit to the production run. First batch of samples from Manufacturer A is here! *happy dance*
Quick question I've put up on my facebook page - What would be a good name for our first foray into Badminton rackets? a) Urumi b) Kanabo c) Ascalon d) Katana e) Kusanagi Vote once! Vote often! On a separate note, 5 brand new prototypes from my preferred supplier are due to ship out this Friday! Sooo excited!
The most easily remember name will triumph, don't be too fancy, let the design do the talking if you want fancy
Doesn't everyone love all things Japanese? This is why I like Ascalon though. It's such a lovely counterpoint, and in the current environment, and nice nod to the underdog too, if you think about it.
Jokes aside, how else do you think players in English speaking countries will pronounce it? I don't really get your jibe though, do I sound cruel?
Use katana for the first racket! Since its an easy and simple name, maybe us Ascalon for the second one?
Mate, for starters 'ass-clown' is an Americanism. It's not used in ANY English speaking countries except the US and Canada, and I'd expect anyone say over the age of about 12 to pronounce it how an adult would pronounce it As-Car-Lon. I mean do you say LiNing as in 'LEE-Ning', or do you say Leaning? Juvenile and lame. Katana does seem popular though so its definitely on the cards.
To each his own. Implicit associations impact part of consumers purchase decisions, given that fact you are aware and quite offended by this phrase suggest Americanism has travelled quite far. And it only takes someone to bring up the association to ruin the feeling for a lot of other people. Sorry, I should have been more tactful and used less crude language, but it is still an valid advice for you to opt for a more universally pleasing name for the racket. I will comment no further on this matter.
Thought that long ago. Discarded it from my mind. Too pretentious. Besides, its kinda archaic... and I'm always looking around for a white steed with chain mail to protect its goolies when people exclaim "Excalibur!"
