Sony Dwi Kuncoro head to head record against the world's top 15: VS Lee Chong Wei: 5-7 VS Lin Dan: 2-9 VS Chen Long: 1-0 VS Chen Jin: 2-3 VS Simon Santoso: 1-1 VS Sho Sasaki: 2-1 VS Lee Hyun Il: 1-4 VS Peter Gade: 3-1 VS Du Pengyu: 2-1 VS Kenichi Tago: 3-0 VS Taufik Hidayat: 2-3 VS Son Wan Ho: 1-1 VS Tien Minh Nguyen: 2-2 VS Jan O Jorgensen: 0-0 VS Hu Yun: 1-0 I seriously believe he belongs in the top 10, and he may achieve that by the end of this year hopefully! Go Sony, Go!!!
Well, Sony is MS with best game plan, well one of the best. LYB once said that Sony has excellent technique. He may not possess thunderous smash like Hayom, but with great tactic, Hayom was unable to use that weapon and lost very tamely.
Spot on! I enjoyed that game where he dragged the game pace and annoyed the heck out of Lin Dan (Thailand Open earlier this year) and even caught him with a "Lin Dan" style trick shot. That sent a powerful message through.
Heard that Hayom is not 90-100% fit yesterday against SDK. TV commentator said that he has slight injury. Nonetheless, at this point the only INA MS who has a good fighting spirit, technique, power and defense is SDK. I am a big fan of him and from his improved performance last year after several serious injuries, i am hoping that SDK could maintain his rhythm & improve his ranking points and become one of the Big 5 in MS. His performance to date still not up to the standard during his peak before injuries, but he is showing a good progress and more importantly he has the confidence in himself that he can do it. All the best SDK, looking forward for your upcoming trophies.
Agree with all the above posts. I personally don't rate Hayom while Simon is not exactly the kinda players you could rely on also for the big trophies.
There are rumors that Sony and Hayom withdraw from Taipei Open GPG. Anyone can confirm? I know that Hayom is having problem with his leg, but Sony?
Maybe too tired? Sony was competing in the Japan SS last week too. I guess he probably wants to take a rest.
Agree. Also, seems Simon is a bit more chubby now. His strengths are more to speed and agility combined with good technique. But look at LD and LCW muscle build. No way Simon can handle them. Simon also proved that he have so-so stamina. Several times he lost on rubber after played well against LD, Sho Sasaki, CJ, etc. Merely caused by running out of gas and mentality at decider. As for Sony, he is on the right track to regain his form and physical back. Still not there, but he will be.
Sony back at working ranking of no 23. Now we'll have to count on him to prove himself in the Denmark Open. But is he even taking part in it?
Yes he is. Based on the draw released at BWF site, Sony will face Takuma Ueda in the first round, and if he advances to the 2nd round, he will most probably be having a clash with Denmark veteran, Peter Gade. If he is able to beat Peter Gade, he will be up against CBA most promising LD successor, Chen Long in the quarter final. Be focus, SONY.
Sony's run for SemiFinal on Denmark Super Series Premier 2012 has been put into an end by none others than Chen Long. In my opinion, Sony has shown a good fight in that match utilized his weapons by playing all out. However, 2012 Olympic Bronze medalist is a better player yesterday especially on attacking position. No wonder, Dato LCW also having difficulty when Chen Long launched an attack. All the best for your next tourney, Sony.
Sony probably now has attitude problem on court, looks like he doesnt trying really hard like he did at SCG thailand and IGP
Sony recovery was slow. Return shot not in best position put himself too much pressure and frustration after losing a point one by one. CL clearly better player. Sony could beat anyone when in best form.
