Besides teaching the line judge, BWF should also teach those LIVE camera director or producer;). To replay back the whole thing when it's NEEDED;)

Your case is not valid because he participated in the Korean Open this year ;)
Besides, with the Premier SS coming up next year, he is forced to participate in all of them, whether it is China or Korea.

Besides, I always thought that it had to do with the sponsors.

    True that :)...
It will be the best chance for Datuk to try and claim the missing title...
Hopefully of course unless Yonex intervenes again which I hope is not the case :)

remember the infamous 2007 incident when bcl won?

after that incident, the camera men most of the time never replay the landing of the bird. lol

Ahhh no wonder, LCW still is scarred today after the 2007 incident.... no wonder his under-performances :)

If you actually properly read his post, undeadshot said LCW will be participating in the future China and Korean Opens because they will be premier events.

Please learn to read the whole post instead of just reading parts that you liken to your fancy. :)

Anyways good luck going to convince LCW and misbun to miss China Open, since you are so close to them anyway :)

    Lin Dan will retire soon

    .
    Agree. It's also because that;

    * CHN players usually start training at a younger age. By the time they are 30, they could have 20 years of hard training already. Their bodies could have had enough of it.

    * CHN backup players are always good enough and ready to replace their top players. Top players can retire earlier without worrying that their team would drop in standard drastically.

Lin Dan has been pacing himself very carefully over the past 2-odd years. This is in part due to LYB and his strategies, but the result is that LD has been able to extend his timespan of active play, and also achieve peak form more often (due to more selective participation in tourneys.) I think its entirely possible he will be around for another 2-3 years. But there will always be other factors outside the purely physical and game-related ones, that can dictate when a player retires.

OTOH, LCW has been pushed to feature in almost every tournament possible, for the past so many years. In part due to sponsorship commitments, but more because he is unfortunately the only realistic world-class singles player representing Malaysia in the past few years. Unfortunately, that situation does not look like its going to change in a hurry. So the toll on his body (and mind) is far more than what LD would be experiencing.

I agree with this very much.
LD may still have the physical condition due to selective participation, but mentally the motivation to train as hard as before etc... and take the time to train instead of enjoying the good life that many sponsorships bring in will be very hard to raise.
It's all about how he mentally adjusts to this... and his willpower to keep going or just say "I've achieved enough".

Unfortunately the conditions for LCW means that he has to participate in so many tournaments... not just for himself but for Yonex especially.... So many times he would've been better off with rest, but has been forced to participate....
To do that continuously day in and day out will eventually take it's toll one day.... especially with so much media and fan pressure on his every move also.
