By the way to Kwun, closing http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...uot-Into-the-Universe-quot-by-Stephen-Hawking It's unfortunate that it got locked before we could talk about thermodynamics and conservation of energy without needing to write the word 'God' or 'religion' one single time.
The title alone is an invitation for me...then, when I got in, sadly, it was closed. Well, I had the feeling that contributors will try to dissuade (not evade really, but...) from supreme being, science or philiosophy talk(heck religion wasn't even in my mind at the time) so that lively discussions can be exchange (unlike the ''Was so and so player cheating?'' thread which prompted me to merrily toss in ''Was Lance Armstrong CHEATING?''). I almost wanted to start the U.K.'s P.A.Y.E (Pay As You Earn) thread but decided otherwise since seeing the Stephen Hawking thread closed.
For BCers more interested in Religion and Politics . For BCers more interested in Religion and Politics, here is an international link; http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayJournal?jid=RAP .
lin dan thread is temporary closed and many post deleted. many times mod has warn us to agree to disagree i wonder who were those responsible
I wonder who were those responsible...... . Perhaps those responsible are now banned from BC, so they won't be causing more trouble. .
LCW vs Lin Dan... who will be better in this tournament? . Tried to post in this thread - 'LCW vs Lin Dan... who will be better in this tournament?' located at; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...-Dan...-who-will-be-better-in-this-tournament And I got this reply "Sorry! This thread is closed!". :crying::crying::crying: .
I suspect thread starter is just another troll . Did you read Post #9 of that thread? I think drifit was right; when he posted; "I suspect thread starter is just another troll. create, hit and run. this is my opinion and i didnt see his/her opinion." .
Recently, our BCers are well-behaved . Lately, it's found not many threads have been closed by our BC admin/moderators. It must be because that our BCers are now well-behaving. .
Must add in this just closed thread . Must add in this just closed thread; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/94078-Congratulations-Lin-Dan-) Many congratulated Lin Dan for winning the the 2011 Korea PSS. But many comments have made Lee Chong Wei looking small/inadequate. .
Yes, i dont know why they made comments like that, can it be they forgot the thread's title? Post after post a few members keep harping the same tune .. Anyway kwun has closed it to cool things down...
Some of the comments were quite useful and neutral. Common sense says that it works both ways, repeated taunts and snide remarks on certain stars will surely provoke tit for tats from rivals. To avoid it is best to remain neutral, censor not only criticisms from rivals but also practice self-censorship avoid provoking statements that is obvious will attract counter attacks. Chris CC is quite neutral and we have mods here but the self-appointed vigilantes are themselves not doing much to promote discussion.Instead there appears to be attempts to bait and undermine the mods and prevent them from doing their job.
If I were a moderator, I would close down that thread too . If I were a moderator, I would close down that thread too. It started as a 'positive' thread to congratulate Lin Dan. Unfortunately, it ended up as a 'negative' thread to belittle Lee Chong Wei. .
That thread aside, if we want to prevent similar incidents, we have to set a good example by not belittling and mocking anyone whether rivals, mods, other forum members etc. We do not want a situation where there are groups dominating and browbeating other members from speaking their minds, that would be Mat Rempit behaviour. Also its silly to try to tell people to stick within the topic, so long as it is related, it is relevant, otherwise we will have thousands of little posts with bits of limited superficial information like in facebook or youtube, this is a forum not a chat-room and it allows more details and related info to be discussed in greater depth and scope. For eg, WTM's discussion was interesting, once you open a new thread, people lost interest because the background info was cut-off. Of course it would be better to move part of the thread but I think mods have a full time pro job and cant afford to spend time moving and joining threads everyday. Of course there are volunteers to do the job but there are also pros and cons with that, we end up with a heavily censored movie where only certain people are allowed to say only certain things.
Hey Kwun, I don't have time to read all threads in BC but I'm glad I read this post today. I respect your philosophy and wisdom in running the forum, which reflects your personality and attitude to life too... My philisophy concurs with yours. It's meaningless to tell the world where we are, people will be much more impressed and convinced one day when they discover where we are.... Keep up the good work!
We are here as a community of Badminton lovers . I couldn't agree with you more. Our kwun and moderators have kept BC going well. Although some BCers are not thinking similarly, most BCers understand that we are here as a community of Badminton lovers. It is often that we find BCers loving their idols (and other things) instead of loving our sport, Badminton, itself. .
thank you winston and chris. it is not possible to force everyone to behave overnight. but hopefully by letting everyone know what our goal is, by having members understand what our aim is, then people will slowly realize that we can discuss and talk about our beloved game of badminton in a civil way. and i hope members who knows our goal here will help us by lead by example.
