Can anybody explain why this is ostensibly above the MX80 (when the MX80 has its specs maxed)?

Other than the fact that it's newer, of course.

MBS does - I just got a reel of VS850 from them - and I think e78 would ship to the Moon if you gave it as your address.

There are rumours of a repaint called the MX80N.

Personally, I think they'd be idiots if the killed the MX80:).

Had my first hit of my MX90 yesterday, it feels amazing but new racket placebo might have something to do with this.

1st impressions I get more power out of it then my MX80 and it feels more manouverable/accurate.

I do love my MX80 so will try them again side by side tomorrow.

Is the grip size g5 same as yonex? Why it look so dirty? Get it tape with celophane, etc before applying your grip of choice.

yes, the grip size is the newer version, G5. those are the leftovers from the original grip. electrical tape has been applied over the wooden handle before being gripped by a RKEP G01 grip.

There's no doubt MX90 is a superb racket. I'll be writing my review this weekend. I would gladly play with it if asked to do so and I don't say that about many rackets.

Totally agree, there's just something about it. Much like the JJS but even better.

It is quite a demanding racket though, some people had issues with the MX80 in terms of strain I recall, this doesn't seem much different.

the MX90 3U felt stiffer and head heavier compared to the JJS that I played with this weekend though limited play time (just few hits). Still have a tennis elbow, so did not do much with it. :( Was hoping it will play similar or less stiffer than JJS with a 7.0mm shaft.
