Du’s only job is to stop Gade at first round if possible and I think he has a fairly good chance this time after he lost the last two encounters with a 3 setters. But when was the last time PG lost in the first round? Over 3 years ago in Japan to another Chinese player, Gong Weijie (Gong who, I hear you asked?). On the subject of first round exit, over the last 5 years of SuperSeries; LCW has 4; the last time was 2 years ago in China Open; CJ also has 4; the last time was 2 years ago in HK Open; CL has 3 in just over 3 years; the last time was 2 years ago in Malaysia Open. PG has 2, in Japan (2008) and All England (2007); and LD has only 1, over 4 years ago in China Open. And wait for it, Boonsak Ponsana (THA) has 20! Hope he got good deal for early cancellation for hotels. And the best? You would have guessed, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang played in 12 SS + 2 SS Finals, World Champion and into final for all of them (won 12 out of the 14). If Gade got passed the first round he has Hu Yun (HK) or Vittinghus waiting for him, neither will be easy. Hu Yun has just beaten him a couple of months ago in a very tight match and Vittinghus is desperate for points to get into top 16 for the Olympics qualification. If he got passed those 2 then it should be a smooth journey to the semi, and end there as usual. For the bottom half Chen Jin should has a ‘cleared’ path to the final. He has an almost identical situation as the last Olympics. The same guy, LCW was in the way with a must win match at the All England and he done it clinically with a decisive 2 games win. So, the question is can he pull it off again? Other point worth to mention is if Lin Dan to be in the final and defeat LCW again he will overtake LCW by a mere 200 points. It wouldn’t be that difficult for him to keep that up until next May as No 1 into the Olympics. The question is how much does he wanted it? Let’s assume Chen Jin got to the final and lost to LCW, Chen Jin will still behind P Gade by 3000 points. With the remaining 3 SS (MO, AE and InO) and based on this year’s performance P Gade has a 50/50 to get into semi (he didn’t got passed the QF for the last 3 tournaments). Let’s say he does better in 2012 and get into 2 SF and 1 QF, and Chen Jin gets 3 SF. If that QF is at AE then CJ will qualify, on the other hand Chen Jin will be still behind by less than 300 points. So, either he needs to do better than 3 SFs or go and get another GP Gold (still 2 left before May) in order to get the ticket to London next year. Simple, isn’t it?

Anyway, good opportunity for Chen Jin to get back in it here, and it's difficult to see whether LD will try and win this, and provide the WO in 'MO next week. If LD does win and get back to #1(provisional) can CL win in MO and probably AE as well in order to try and get to #2 ahead of Lee
From a badminton perspective, Chen Jin is clearly the better player than Peter Gade on any given day. On that account alone, shouldn't Chen Jin rightfully deserve the 4th seed spot regardless of whether there is manipulation from the Chinese side or not? The point is that most country would naturally behave like this if they have such a dominance in the game like China has in the MS, WS & WD categories. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't even be too surprised to see Chen Jin overcoming LCW in the coming months.

I do agree that CJ definitively deserves (from a playing-strength) perspective to take part of the Olympics.. There is simply ONE and only ONE reason that could deny him the ticket, and that is his citizenship.
despite the fact that i hate the unfairness of the chinese concerning their walkover-habits, i must admit that the qualification-rules for the olympics are even more unfair. therefore i can somehow understand the chinese! there is absolutely no reason why the current world number 5 should not play in the olympics! i would even stretch that idea further: why not have a field of the best 64 players in the olympics, be it 40 chinese or not!? maybe we could think about the best 60 in the world ranking and 4 quota-places for togo and argentinia if you like...
But then it is also the citizenship that allows him to become the player he is today and the very opportunity presented to him today for the Olympics. I am of the view that there is a flaw in the system designed by WBF with the objective to curtail the dominance of China.
Or just ad an extra round so there can be 64 top-ranking and 64 quota players in the first round!!!! :-D

After P Gade’s round 1 exit the route to London for Chen Jin is getting brighter, much much brighter. I expect Chen Jin to be in the final, or even win it. For next week’s MO both players need to get pass QF and beyond to gain points. If CJ finish ahead of PG he will be over 1000 points in front of PG. For PG to get into the SF he has Wong Wing Ki (HK), Kenichi Tago (JPN), Simon Santoso (INA) and Shon Wan Ho (KOR) in his path. All have 10 years plus advantage over him and with PG’s current form I say very unlikely he will get into the SF. As for CJ he should meet LD in the QF for the SF place. Let’s be honest, the best both PG and CJ can hope for is a bronze medal. If CJ qualify and PG will be seeded 5-8, he needs to beat 2 of the top 4 for the bronze, mission impossible. On the other hand CJ is capable and has a very good chance to get his second Olympics medal.
I think Lin Dan will beat LHI. CJ needs to beat Jan which is not that easy. If CJ and LD wins, then CJ is confirmed semifinalist. What we need is Sho Sasaki to win Korea Open(or at least finalist, which means he has to beat CJ in semifinal) to add more excitement to the race. LYB will need to offer Sho more than a "Gade-post retirement" job. Hahaha....
Seriously, no more walkovers or easy paths planned for this idiot.. He still has a chance to qualify for the third place but he has to do it the hard way.. Participate in all tournaments before the end and gain as many points as possible.. Sorry LYB.I believe tainting the name of Chinese badminton any further is not weighed by the performance of this player assumed to be the third rep for CHN.
