I was rooting for LXR,just concerned about her fitness considering she has already played 9 matches in two weeks before this match against the more experienced and mentally strong world no.1. Boy,am I pleased. Well, the sad thing is I missed the live telecast just now, all because the TV schedule stated the telecast time wrongly as 10pm here; will definitetly catch the replay. Li Xuerui has just proven herself to be in the same league as the three Wangs, much earlier than I expected.Too bad she won't be in the London OG or she would have an outside chance of winning a medal. The first time I took notice of LXR was when I watched her beat Saina Nehwal in the semi-final of the 2010 Asia Championship and then went on to win the title. Best of all,she impressed me by her attacking game,by her ability to smash powerfully from even the baseline for an outright winner which I remember her doing a number of times to her senior compatriot Jiang YH in the 2011 Thai Open Final. There and then I predicted it's a matter of time she would rise among the top, and today she has done it. Someone commented on her looks or lack thereof. It doesn't matter. Better still, that means no other distraction,no boyfriend problem, total dedication to the sport, and we might just see her rule the badminton world for quite a long while.
