I think HS is the most intimidating one out of them at the net but TG, LYD and even KKK are like brick walls when at their best. To be honest I never figured out how CY get's it done but he usually does one way or another (true winner, not that I closely studied the matches; must re-watch a lot of their matches some day) [IMG].

Anyhoo my vote went to Tony a loooooong time ago [IMG] (oh yeah CY has one OG title, not two but their WC/OG finals performances were second to none)

Were you referring to my post with the 1 OG Gold comment? Because I was talking about 2 OG medals, which meant 1 Gold 1 Silver of course ;)

For those attempting to "proselytize" others, I suggest... forget it. In some cases, people adhere more zealously to their favorite athletes/team than to their, ahem, religion ;)

Yeah. As for me, if I have replied 2 times and no conclusion, let's just say we agree to disagree :D
I'm secured enough to not get offended and to keep my opinion while the other have different view. Normal thing.

Hendra is back on form so he's owning it at the net right now. He often moves to play the next shot before the opponent has even played their own shot!

Hi, interesting thread and I also have an opinion. Unfortunately in Germany we don`t have any TV coverrage of Badminton, but since Youtube exists I watch all the important matches. I can`t say anything about the players og the 70s or 80s, but from most of the rest I saw quite a few matches. Just recently I have started again to watch every video I could find including the best front player ever: This has got to be HENDRA SETIAWAN!!! I think it`s hard to compare with the "older players", because the game developed. But compared to KKK, CY or LYD I`d always say Setiawan. How one can look so calm and be so lethal at the same time is amazing. I liked him with Kido but this year with Ahsan you can clearly see, what an exceptional player he is. He steers the rallies with his clever placement and is also very effective from the back, although he doesn`t have the most power.
    Really, guys! He is spectacular!!!

Wholeheartedly agree, he is just so awesome at the net, his reading of the game skill is a level higher than the rest of top MD players at the moment! He does not need those mind games displayed by some MD pairs, as he is THAT good:cool:

The legendary Tony Gunawan has my vote. Always so calm, so poised on the court.

The thread says best player at the net(net play) So,singles players should also be included.

In WS, have to go with Ratchanok or Shixian.
