I switched to my MX80 again the other day after my newly gripped (Super Grap over wood) VT80 started irritating my wrist. Loved playing with it as usual. So much speed, control and precision. Only downside was that whilst the power was there, it definitely wasn't as powerful as my VT80 on it's best days.

Compared to the NS9000X, it's about equal if not just slightly more stiff. If your worried about the stiffness, worry not. I switched from a NS9900 to the mx80 and I'm having no trouble at all. In fact, when you play with the mx80, it really doesn't feel that stiff at all. Very crisp and comfortable.

Althought if your talking about the NS9000S, then it's quite a bit stiffer lol.

Got my MX80 yesterday, courtesy of BC's own Naim.F.C. and I had about 30mins play with it. I can definitly feel an improvement in my game with this after using my lethal 90. It is a little bit slower but it more than makes up for that with the control you get from the racquet. Net play seemed easier to judge and net deceptions were just so much easier to do. But I think the main difference was the the smashes and drop. Drops were consistent and easy and really required very little effort. Smashes too were certainly very easy to time and the angles were very nice. It is the same length 675mm as my lethal 90 but there is certainly better angles when smashing and better control at the net. I am very happy with this racquet and I don't see myself getting a new racquet for a long time. I am not going to review power as the two racquets are strung differently but I do feel that smashes would certainly be improved powerwise with the MX80 as timing with it is very easy to judge and smashes on the sweet spot occured far more often. I good buy for sure. 9/10 because I believe that nothing is perfect.

I had a clash and put two ugly scars in my MX80 :'( this doesn't affect how awesome it is though, just cosmetic flaws now.

    Quick question about string tension.

I currently string my Yonex 9000X at 27 lb. I will be switching to MX-80. Since the MX-80 is a different kind of animal altogether, would you recommend that I string at that same tension or would I need to make an adjustment so that it has a similar feel?

    Can someone please help. Thanks

Sorry, I tried to edit but was past the 15 min limit.

I need to add I played with kwun's MX-80 over the weekend strung at 25 or 26 lb (he can't recall). Defensively, it was amazing. Yet offensively I struggled a bit with it. I recall hitting a couple of really good smashes but found I couldn't time it perfectly. Since it was my first time using it, I'll put it down to swing speed unfamiliarity.

    Can someone please help. Thanks

Haha! Madbad, so you've been tempted by the mx80 too? :D

Re string tension: the feel will be tighter due to 80 grommet design because of only 8 shared holes in total as compared to the usual 16 shared holes. So some would say to string 1 lb lower. Ask kwun... he'll be able to tell you.

It was such a sweet racket. Defence was so easy. Now if I could only find the right tension

    madbad,

Smitten already? You sure it's not just the novelty. Hope you don't wake up dazed and confused once the novelty wears off:):):). I have yet to try one.

Try stringing 10 racquets from 24 to 33 pounds tensions. Isn't it the fad nowadays, owning more than is ever needed;)?

Yesterday I played almost the whole session with the MX80 (My VT string was broken), the feeling was great and looking great :D.
But is it just me that the string on this racket moves relatively more than others racket? I strung my MX80 at 28X30 with BG66 Ultimax already.

It is just the strings losing tension.
