Classic question for you I am sure, but need your help!

Coming back to badminton after 5 years off in the coming weeks. Mostly a double player, very fast and like the back court powerful shots, which is a position my partners tend to let me take and cover. I don't remember a lot about the racket specs I was using outside that my last favorite was an Armortec.

There is a great shop near with all Yonex selection and most of the major other brands(Black Night, Victor, Babolat). I am really confuse about all their offering and models.

Would need help narrow down some models(at least get their high level pros and cons) and how to choose strings tension and then I'll go get a look at them.

    Thanks!

if you are a power player, then armortec and voltric may suits you as both models are known as head heavy.....
for victor, i think MX models(MX70, MX80, MX London)
but LYD just use Brave Sword model which just slightly heavy....
about babolat and black knight, i dont know anything....
    hope this helps.....

That is a really good starting point, thanks Gunnersfan! So Armortec should still be on my short list, I am not surprised. I really loved that one !!! I cannot recall what was the model I had, it was one of the first Armortec I think, it was all gray becoming darker gray/blue to the head, maybe somebody know ?????

The shop also have Head rackets, any feedbacks on those ? They have in stock Power Helix and Neon 8000.

In terms of quality, should I buy Yonex again or they are all equivalent and Yonex just more expensive for the same quality because of popularity. They have such an offering, hard for me to go somewhere else but I am intrigued by Victor's and Head rackets?

I want only one racket do it all, and of course would like to hit the homerun on the first try ;)

    Thanks for your help!

I will just be more specific here, Try Voltric Z-Force from Yonex, I just switched from Armortec to Voltric. I would say, you will just love it if you are a hard hitter. and if you cant get used to it, stay with Armortec and try the 900P. It is still my favorite racket.
For other brands, better wait for others. I dont have any experience with them. I just looooove Yonex
    XD

I found the model I was using, it was the Armortec 500, back in around 2006 I bought it I think but sold it when I left the sport. Though I can restart with anything with different feel as long as it suit my needs. After that long off the court, I can consider anything without fearing transition time, it will be the case anyway.

So its leaning towards Voltric and Armortec so far ...

yonex and li ning rackets are the most expensive in badminton but as far as i know, the quality is there....
but, i believe other manufacturers also made some decent rackets like Head, Victor, Apacs, Babolat, Carlton and others....
    it's up to you....
i bought VT70 last month and just love it, but i also love my Apacs Edgesaber Z-Slayer....
of course VT70 is the better racket but not that much....
if you want to try other racket beside yonex and li ning, try Apacs Lethal 70, there are a lot of positive feedback on this racket.....
    good luck...:)

Head is getting out of the badminton business.

    For doubles play...
Yonex: maybe VT70 or VT80. I don't think the VT-ZF would be suitable for doubles play (ie. smaller head frame).
    Victor: maybe MXJJS :D
    Li-Ning: maybe N90II

Above rackets are head heavy and stiff. So be prepared for some soreness in the shoulders if you're not used to it.

The Malaysian pair KKK-TBH uses the VT-ZF, as does Carten Mogensen.

VT70 is not too stiff, it's between medium and stiff....
plus, the head is not too heavy...
a very user friendly high end racket indeed.....
imo, this is an all round racket....

I am tempted by the Yonex ArcSaber 10, looks like a very well balanced racket ?

u should try out N90 (1st generation) instead of N90 II for more explosive smashes :D
