yea me too... and she's already considered short for d china team.. but she's good! *thumbs up* for her! yea she's still young.. hope she and XZB continue playing goodly!
Zhang Yawen is soooo cute (the short hair is great!!). I saw her at the AE this year playing WD with Wei Yili in the semis and finals (against Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen) and the crowd was really behind ZYW and WYL. I think it was partly because they were so vocal and their opponents silent; but it was also because they seemed to be more involved in the game. (BTW, just my opinion, but in the final, Wei Yili made so many mistakes.) Re XD: have ZYW and XZB won a lot? It seemed to me they were always getting into the semis or finals, but never actually winning, esp if their opponents included Gao Ling on the other side. But if they're seeded world number 1 I guess they must've. I've had the impression recently ZYW has been quite quiet. I watched something on CCTV where she was being interviewed about some injury she had. From memory, the interviewer also told ZYW she was getting fat (!!) and ZYW answered her in all seriousness, "I don't know why either, I'm working on it." Unbelievable.
well this is just what I remember (it was something like, "最近很多人觉得你胖了。为什么?"). But Chinese is not my first language, so maybe I got it wrong. I was really surprised that ZYW didn't tell the interviewer where to go . I guess she couldn't.
It depends on how the question is being asked. As far as Chinese culture is concerned, I don't think that is rude.
yes I think that's correct (altho with the caveat that I don't think there's any singular thing as 'Chinese culture', since I have Chinese friends who would be upset by such a question, and others who wouldn't). It's always seemed to me that many (mainland?) chinese have little problem commenting on weight gain/loss. It wasn't stated in a rude way but rather very matter of fact. But I was still appalled.
Nah, from the look, I still prefer Lin better. Of course, once ZYW starts to show her high level of energy on court, I am totally sold back to ZYW.
Myself came from the north part of CHN. In my region (at least, back then), telling a person who "gain weight" actually means a good thing, just like saying you are cute or something, especially, if from an elder to a young person. In our culture, saying "gain weight" usually means "been through good things / well rested".
