i think, those are metal roof decks. g.i. type, so it is silverish. if not insulated properly, it will be like oven.

Oh yes indeed.. I took an hour to walk to the courts, in mid-winter in Nara.

By the time I got there, my hands were freezing and I couldn't even hold the racquet properly. My hand was swollen, and it took about an hour for all of us to warm up. So.. at that club, the first hour was basicly a warm-up session.

The windows are best covered up to prevent sunlight glare

pramana ... Where is this place?

I agree with twobeer. The windows are best covered up to prevent sunlight glare.

Great tread. I will try and post some courts I play in Canberra. Also try and dig up some courts I play at from Sydney (Homebush Olympic courts) and Melbourne (Altona) when I get home.

Of all the halls I have seen on this tread I think Djarum looks the best. Somehow it suggest like playing at a board of directors room if you know what I mean. All dark wood panelling and style.

Home town Bentong (an hour drive from KL,Malaysia) during last Chinese New Year

Under utilized Badminton hall with a single court.

I wish this hall was built during my schooling time. Inside the hall was taken through a broken window panel next to the bust-bin on the 1st photo.

    That's what i call..

..a professional type badminton venue/training center; and that's only the courts as i believe it is part of a larger training complex. But of course, it's not a surprise considering who & what company actually owns the place.;)

One of the places I play at

The following pics show one of the place I play at in Canberra Australia. Its called Erindale Active Leisure Centre. Its a multi sports hall with swimming pool, squash, gym and of course badminton hall cum basketball courts.
There are six courts and as you can see there are extra lines for basketball as well. This is one of the better place to play in Canberra. The floors are syntectic rubber and very good on the grip.

    Another place in Canberra

Here is another place I play in Canberra called Woden Basket Ball Centre. As you can see its not that great a place. The floor can be slippery and some days we have to share with basketballers  so could be dangerous some times. Quite cold during winter but there are heaters. Unfortunately when the heaters are on it causes drafts.:p
There are eight courts in this hall. At the moment there are only 2 courts setup for my friends and I to play. On Monday night the National club plays here so most of the courts are setup.

I am afraid in Australia all courts are temp courts. We don't have permanent badminton courts. Cannot affort it so must share with other sports. Even in the Olympic stadium in Sydney the badminton nets are not permanent.

Actually, there are quite a few permanent badminton courts/facilities down here in Melbourne. I can count 3 off the top of my head: Kilsyth, MSAC, and Altona.

Wow, that'd be a good experience! What was the score in the end?

Is this the tournament that was held in conjunction with KLRC at Ballarat?

Come to visit Melbourne. :):):) In Melbourne, if halls are named as 'Badminton Hall' or 'Badminton Centre', or 'Badminton Stadium', then only Badminton is played.

Ken Kay Badminton Centre at Ballarat, near Melbourne

    .
:D:D:D You got carried away with tournaments.

Probably, bradmyster was referring the Ken Kay Badminton Centre at Ballarat, near Melbourne, where the 2008 KLRC Australian International was held: click here

And that is another venue with permanent Badminton courts.
